From the Manufacturer

Organic. An All-American Winner! These perfectly straight cucumbers have sweet, mild flesh. The excellent flavor makes this a super choice for salads or sticks for dipping. This packet will plant approximately 20 hills. When plants are 2 inches tall, thin to 3 plants per hill. Plant at 3 week intervals up to midsummer for fresh cucumbers all season. Plant cucumber seed only after all danger of frost is past and ground is warm. They need lots of sunshine and water. Keep weeds to a minimum with straw or leaf mulch. In full sun, sow 5 seeds over a hill 12 inches tall and 2 feet across with well drained soil. For smaller gardens, plant alongside fence or trellis.

These organic cucumber seeds grew very well in a timely and delicious manner. I'm the kind of person that will walk outside to the garden and eat them right off the stem. I don't have to slice cucumbers up and put them in a salad to simply enjoy them. I've done this before, even the ones that are sitting in the dirt. I really should put a little bit of energy into making the short trip to the garden hose a mere 20 feet away on the side of the house, but with the humidity remaining strong and perhaps even getting worse by the day, such a trip wastes too much energy and makes me groggy. Anyway make sure you water these cucumber plants a few times a day for the best results and of course, to experience the tastiest of all vegetable varieties. If you don't water them, you don't want to know what happens. No they won't grow a beanstalk and take you to the skies above, but they will taste like dirt. Dirty tasting veggies can't be saved. Keep this in mind.

I received these seeds promptly. I set up an area of the garden along my fence for these to grow and used a 2 to 2 to 1 composition of Soil Mix, Peat, and Vermiculite with Osmocote pellets. I have also used Miracle Grow plant food twice while watering (about every two weeks).
Anyway, i planted ten of these, and nine have sprouted. They aren't very large yet, but have increased in size noticeably over the last few days. So far, so good. It is June 30th now. I will update this as things develop.

I purchased these seeds with good hope that they'll work well. I planted them about 1 week ago and yesterday I saw sprouts. I'm excited that they grew so quickly. :D I'll update it sometime in summer when/if they have flowers.

I had a lot of trouble growing these seeds and, as of the date of this review, have not had one plant survive to maturity, let alone more than two weeks. I am also growing Armenian and lemon cucumbers, and, despite being grown in the exact same conditions (sterile seed starter, peat pots), the Straight Eights were inarguably the losers of the bunch. I tried growing them on three separate occasions (this generous pack comes with ~100 seeds), and each time the seedlings would succumb to damping off and die as miserable, limp little heaps. I really, really just don't get what I've been doing wrong. Even my Mexican Miniature Watermelon/Sour Gherkin plants did better than this, and they were left unwatered for about four days. I just have a feeling that the seed stock for this isn't as healthy as it could be. Straight Eight is well known for its reliability and production, but, based on this experience, I can safely say that I cannot vouch for either.

Bought these seeds last year to germinate indoors. Followed directions and got a lot of little plants but I didn't really have much space so I planted like 6 of them and trained them up a few trellis! They grew like crazy, took over 3/4 of my small garden. It was a good thing I planted most of my other plants in containers. I got some huge cucumbers and they were delicious, I was eating cucumbers daily until early September when I think they started to die cause the contracted powdery mildew, I think that's what it's called! Didn't really mind cause I got tons of cucumbers and I will try planting them in large containers this year! Home grown organic is the way to go!

Germination only takes 3 days. Awesome. But once seedlings are transplanted, vthey all really struggled in direct sunlight. In fact, one day under direct NW sunlight and brown dry leaves develop right away. A few days in the sun and it pretty much is toast. All 20 of them. I could save those which I was able to shade from direct sun light. This strain is just too sensitive. Once leaves reach about 5" I was blue to put them in direct sunlight. This is too much trouble.

Cucumbers can be undependable to sprout and difficult to grow. As the packet states"guaranteed to grow" is an accurate statement. This seed has produced %100 germination in seven days and growing fast.

We are so excited these seeds are sprouting like "crazy". They were so easy to sprout. Matter fact, out of all the seeds I sprouted, I would say these are growing the fastest.
