Unlike the previous reveiwer who never used this, I had a chance to. The scope is very spotty, so when you put the saliva slide through, you just see the original spots from the microscope, it does not even matter how much or how little saliva you put onto the tray, or even if you move the tray around. There is no way to clean the microscpe as I tried to. Infact you can see the saliva tray better than putting the tray into the scope. And by the way the comapny might as well be non existant as there is no customer service, no phone # to call, and they do not answer emails. They simply just do not care!

I bought this saliva microscope because it had higher magnification and multiple slides for past viewing. I think those are really going to come in handy.

I am really pleased with it so far. It's very easy to use, though the directions definitely leave something to be desired. When looking into it, look into the circle of light and not around it. You definitely can't use it after eating or drinking anything, or nothing will show up on the slide. I tried that yesterday, just for kicks.

But... this morning, I licked the slide, let it dry for 10 minutes, and put it under the scope. The crystal patterns showed up clear as day. It was pretty amazing, actually. Using the dial on the side let me focus in and out, and the picture was really clear.

I thought this method of tracking ovulation was some sort of gimmic at first, like hair curling shampoo or something, until I talked to a microbiologist friend who'd used it. Basically, you're looking at salt crystal patterns. More estrogen= more salt. Tracking the changes in the patterns of estrogen rising and falling is what you're doing with this. I'm really excited about getting started.

I think this product is wonderful for anyone with irregular cycles. You could do the same thing with a microscope, but its hard to carry one around with you everywhere you go. This is small and comes with its own carrying case and little pouch for the slides.

The directions were simple, and I was able to see the changes in the patterns in my saliva. Having six slides so I could save a few days for comparison was nice. Combines with tracking my temp, this is working well for me. And it's much less expensive than using urine tests every couple of days.

This product works really well and is easy to use. My only issue is that I did run into a small problem and emailed the company for advice. I have NEVER heard back from the company. They advertise assistance via email (there is no phone number to call), but when you email, they DO NOT respond. Again the product works well, just don't have any questions for the company as they won't respond.

I was really suspect buying this product after reading some of the negative reviews where they had difficulty seeing anything under the microscope/light. I didn't get my hopes up but I did read the package insert and it says to get to know your own saliva so I practiced a few times (4X) with different amounts of saliva and I also played with the zoom. There is no doubt that looking into the light is hard on the eyes but-- I did finally on my last slide see FERNING like crazy! I'm on Day 12 in my cycle and I'm super irregular. This morning I noticed eggwhite CM so I knew there should be some ferning and kept at it. My last slide I put a lot of saliva on the slide and let it dry. I actually had to play with the zoom a bit AND move the slide around a tiny bit each direction until all the sudden I saw crazy ferning. my saliva must have been thicker on one part of the slide. Anyway, it works! I'm so relieved. My advice is to not get frustrated too easily and keep at it practicing. We are trying for a girl this time so I'm hoping to get to know my body better in knowing what my slides will look like 4-5 days before peak ferning. Keeping our fingers crossed! :)

OK, so this is a bit of a cheat. I haven't bought THIS product, but I have a ferning scope, which looks identical, and I find it really helpful.

It's so easy. You just put a bit of spit on the slide first thing in the morning, and check it under the scope 15-20 minutes later. You learn pretty quickly how to identify whether you are fertile or not. It's even a bit fun! I find that my results are sometimes ambiguous, but I continue using the kit because my temperature shift and other fertility indicators aren't in synch with each other - they indicate different ovulation days. So charting saliva ferning gives me one more clue as to when I really ovulate. I am right on the borderline for having a short luteal phase. Figuring out I ovulate 1 day earlier than I originally thought I did makes a huge difference.

I really think that this should be used by every woman who is serious about charting. The more information you have about your fetility, the better. Start using this NOW, so that you can know as much about your body as possible, and avoid an unnecessarily long and heartbreaking wait to conceive...
