Have you ever felt close to someone thousands of miles away? That's how you will feel while listening to this celestial gem of a recording.
Each song on this CD will transport you to a melodic and lyrical state that will remain fresh and compelling no matter how many times you listen to it. Her voice is framed by the most unusually creative arrangements, and the instrumental voices of her accompanists seem to inspire her to greater feeling. There isn't a lemon in the batch. Every song represents a hallmark of mature acheivement. I guarantee her voice will haunt your dreams. Certain melodies will enslave your consciousness. If I could only have one CD from my Brazilian collection,
I would choose FESTA. It is pure distilled love.

I'm taking the time to praise this amazing musician and this album, not because I want to see my review in print but because I read reviews on Amazon about Rosa Passos that convinced me to look into her music. I'd like to contribute by saying those reviews helped me discover this fine artist. Festa was the first of her albums I acquired. Two months later I have almost everything she's done. None of her albums is a disappointment, though I do have my favorites.
I read somewhere that Bossa Nova should be intimate, as though you're eavesdropping on a couple of people who are having a quiet musical get-together. This and other Rosa albums fit that description perfectly. Rosa's voice is warm, embracing, completely natural; as a Bossa Nova guitarist she is a subtle master who delivers without pretense. Whether you're a Bossa Nova afficionado, or someone who just likes a little time out to relax, this is a perfect album.
Amazon has provided samples of Rosa under the listings of her CD's "Amorosa" and "Entre Amigos." The reviews on those pages are good reading. If you haven't heard of Rosa Passos before and you've come this far....Don't stop now!
