Slicker Than The Shiny, Form-Fitting Latex Fashions Shown Inside, May 30, 2008
This review is from: Fetish (Paperback)
This is a very well done book in which few production costs were spared other than perhaps not making the format a bit bigger so that the text wasn't almost too small to read. The book's cover is heavy black rubber with white lettering stamped deep into the cover itself. It is lavishly illustrated with slick color photos of the fetish scene by Petra Joy. It also includes pen and ink drawings. Alas, the book mostly reminds me of an erotic version of the "American Heritage Illustrated Dictionary." As the book's sales blurb (description) states, the material in the volume covers every facet of the the Fetish world "from Agalmatophilia (the desire to have sex with a mannequin) to Ophidicism (sexual arousal from snakes)." Unfortunately, I couldn't locate the material on Ophidicism anywhere in the volume's 144 pages, but there are so many different definitions, pictures, and drawings on each page that it really does seem like the reader is looking at an encyclopedia/dictionary. True to it's goal, it does define "Agalmatophilia" and while "Ophidicism" must have ended up on the cutting room floor and slithered out the door, the book does discuss most other less scientific terms used throughout the scene. Even "Violet Wand" is included along with a pen and ink drawing of what that electrical toy looks like. After straining my eyes reading the book, looking at its illustrations and wishing they were much larger, I felt like too much money was devoted to the rubber cover that should have gone to making the book a larger, almost Coffee Table Book. The publication lists a large editorial staff and it surprises this reviewer that they didn't notice the potential problems? They probably did, but had to compromise to reach the final product. Four stars is probably the correct rating for the publication because even with it's flaws it's a really slick, professional looking book that will probably supply more basic information about the language of the scene than almost anyone wants to know. Still in some cases, the reader is left to feel like not enough information is supplied on the more popular facets of Fetish. For those thirsty souls, the book does include a list of other sources of additional information. And for those readers into rubber, the cover may be like a message from heavenly sub-space. This reader is going to check the Internet for more delicious pictures by Petra Joy. Many of those included in this book showed great promise. The photographer has such a catchy name. Petra, Petra, isn't that the ancient city cut into the rock cliffs in Jordan where Indiana and his dad found the fountain of eternal life in "The Last Crusade?" In fact, maybe the next Jones sage should have the hero encountering the world of Ophidicism. As the Universe's most infamous bull whip aficionado, Dr. Han Solo Jones taming, or charming a bunch of horny female snake worshippers should provide a host of wonderful, kinky role-playing fantasies. He might even change his mind about hating snakes? This book is a good, very basic introduction to the various forms and language of fetish, but it doesn't mention a Dr. Jones. Whips, paddles, riding crops, canes, yes, Jones or even "The Devil and Miss Jones," no.

Kinky Fun, March 31, 2009
I couldn't be more happy with this book. It was very informative about the interesting types of fetish out there. There are also some rather titillating illustrations within the pages that make for a very fun reading experiance! I definitely would suggest this book for anyone who has an open mind to sex and some of the stranger erotic acts out there.

Great Book But Could Use A Little More, December 2, 2009
This review is from: Fetish (Paperback)
This book was very good, details were right on and the examples were fantastic, however if this book could have been a bit longer with a bit more fetishes involved it would have been perfect. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in learning about fetishes.
