5.0 out of 5 stars Whips and Rubber and Rope, OH MY!
You will be hard pressed to find a better collection of fetish photography from such a wide cross section of photographers. This is certainly the Best of the Best.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good general overview
A survey of fetish work. As a result it doesn't hold together like a single photographer's work would, for example, the book jarringly jumps from black and white , to color, and back again, and the subject matter varies from the ordinary to the unusual. If you're looking for the high-style of a Joel Peter Witkin, this isn't your book.

4.0 out of 5 stars 48 photographers wide and one inch deep, June 12, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fetish: Masterpieces of Erotic Fantasy Photography (Paperback)
48 photographers are represented in "Fetish", a survey of recent trends in determinedly decadent photos of women in vinyl, rubber or rope. Some, like Nobuyoshi Araki, show 2 photos, most get 4 photos and a few photogs get 6 pix, giving a fairly shallow sampling of each photographer. The range of work shown is also fairly narrow, but in this field, perhaps that's a benefit, particularly for newcomers. For example, there's nothing in "Fetish" to compare with Mapplethorpe's photo of a ... nailed and wired to a block of wood -- in fact there are very few photos involving males at all. So while the book deals with material that remains controversial and retains an illicit look, "Fetish" is a fairly safe first stride into the dark side. Reproduction quality is uneven but in the many cases where it is good, it is very good indeed. I REALLY want to hang out with Derek Ridgers...or Sandra Jensen. Really. I do. They must be much more interesting people than I am. And PLEASE could I hire a model like Mike McMillan's redhead with the blue rope. Gasp, what a picture.

This book is an excellent introduction and sampling of the genre of fetish photography. Some of the top names in the field have their work included, such as Steve Diet Goedde, (the late) Gunther Blum, Jo Hammar, Nik Marchant, Doris Kloster, and Eric Kroll.

3.0 out of 5 stars Generally a pleasant coffee table-if-you-dare photo book, August 20, 2002
By
This review is from: Fetish: Masterpieces of Erotic Fantasy Photography (Paperback)
A pleasant but not exciting collection of fetish photographs by various photographers. Because every photographer only gets a page or two or three, there is no continuity to any of the photos besides the very loosely defined term FETISH. There's a little skin, some light bondage, some artsy posing and some photo-doctoring. The predominant garb is leather and latex, the two tried-and-true staples of fetish photography. Worth getting but not all that exciting. A good coffee table or bathroom book for a liberal household.
