3.0 out of 5 stars It's weak-sauce
I'd have to say this is a pretty weak album by BFMV standards. A lot of other reviewers have pointed out the flaws so i wont go too deep. Seems instrumentally/intensity level/lyrically a step down from all previous efforts. Overall pretty disappointed. After my initial listen I was shocked and would have rated probably 2 stars, but after a few more listens I decided to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fever part 1, April 27, 2010
This review is from: Fever (Audio CD)
1- Your Betrayel, this song opens the album with a thunderous drum beat and great first riff.
2- Fever, this song opens with a very fast heavy metal riff a classic BFMV song
3- The Last Fight, The only song off the album to be made int a music video ... so far
4- A Place Where you belong, this song starts with a classical acoustical bullet riff with a bit of screamo at the start.
5- Pleasure and Pain, One of the Heaviest songs on the album .
6- Alone, a great song sounds opens with a riff ,but then goes into a techcnical metal duet riff this is a great song.
7- Breaking out Breaking Down, what a song its my favorite off the album, this song is bullet for my valentine.
8- Bittersweet memories, the lightest song on the album in terms of screamo and heavy metal guitar riffs
9- Dignity, a brilliant song
10-Begging for mercy, is definetely the heaviest song on the album.
11-Pretty on the outside, is a brilliant end to this album .

My only problem with this is-
NEW album will be released -FEVER deluxe edition with 5 songs added that will be better than half this release. Not cynical,it's what they've done with every album. I like this one,but am getting tired of 2 versions of every album.

5.0 out of 5 stars An impressive departure, May 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fever (Audio CD)
First, I have to say that I was expecting this departure from BFMV. In an interview, Matt Tuck had stated that Fever would be an album made more for the band itself than for the fans and upon listening to the entire album, I can understand why. Typical BFMV fans will miss the aggressiveness displayed on The Poison and Scream, Aim, Fire, but true BFMV (and true fans of great music, for that matter) will most definitely enjoy this release for its uniqueness. Many of the songs are more personal and possess more of a mainstream feel, but for BFMV this is not a bad thing. If there is one band out there that can mix metal and the mainstream appeal of more catchy hard rock tunes together with superior skill its BFMV. And that is exactly what you will find on their latest album, plenty of catchy and memorable tunes that are equal parts hard rock and metal as compared to previous releases that were 75 percent metal blended with 25 percent hard rock. I would say that this release demonstrates Bullet's musical diversity and shows us that they are not afraid to try something new, and if you are one of those individuals that always expects more of the same on every release from a band, then this is not an album for such closed-mindedness.

5.0 out of 5 stars great album, from a always great band, September 15, 2010
This review is from: Fever [+Digital Booklet] (MP3 Download)
First off, anyone to say this album "Fever" is no good, can't possible have good taste in music. Ive actually liked BFMV more since I bought this album. This album might not be as "heavy" as their past albums in some peoples opinions, but to me it is just as heavy, and it is a more polished with perfectly written lyrics and music, mainly the music. From start to finish this album rocks even with the lighter songs on the album, which start out accousticly and end up rocking through the chourus with loud guitars. "Your Betrayal" is one of the best over all rock songs I've ever heard, and its intro is badass, so good i think it's better than Metallicas' "Enter Sandman" intro. I know a lot of people will argue that opinion with me, but thats ok, we are all entitled to our opinions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give them more credit..., August 7, 2010

Ever since BFMV came into the world of mainstream, they have become more and more popular among many metalcore and metal acts. Everyone love "The Poison" and how it could not have been a better debut with catchy choruses that stuck in your head through the whole entire day while "Scream,Aim,Fire" was high powered and full of speed and amazing guitar work on Matt and Padge's part. Now that they have been around for several years though, and "Fever" has come out, people believe mainstream success has gotten into their head, but I disagree. In my opinion, they stayed true to their roots featuring songs with amazing guitar playing like in the song "Alone" and drums that just sound freakin' amazing as well as lyrics and vocals that hold emotion that go to a deeper level than a normal may believe.

It has been said that BFMV did this album more for themselves than anything else, and in truth, I believe that as when you listen to some of the lyrics they become quite personal for Matt Tuck. Aside from that, people have complained about their not being as much screaming in this album as the other two or the same ferocity like the two previous ones. I will say yes to the first one, but no to the second. Yes, there is less screaming vocals on Jay and Matt's part, but does screaming really make the band? No it doesn't! The music style is what makes the band. The music! Not a type of vocals. It is just something that adds a different side of things or emotion. Now, the reason I say no to the second argument is that there are some heavy songs that show how awesome of a metalcore band they are. "Begging For Mercy", "Your Betrayal", and "Pretty on the Outside" are all songs that have amazing riffs, guitars, drums, the whole nine yards! Now the only reason why they may not have the same intensity as the other two is because they mean something more for the band than what so called "fans" can figure out.

Now, here is my recommendation. If you like BFMV because of their screaming and heavy metal sound, then don't get this album because you will complain about it and want your money back. If you like them for their musical talent and capabilities, showing different sides of the band, then definitely get this album. It is different, but a good kind of different. A lot of people are afraid to see different sides of a band, but in all honesty, you shouldn't be because it just means the band is experimenting with ideas that they like and want to see how they work out. This album is without a doubt a 5/5 for me, but hopefully this will help with your decision to buy it if your on the verge of doing so but are skeptical about it. Here is how I would grade the songs though:

1. Your Betrayal 10/10- An amazing opener for the album and the song as Moose does an amazing job on the drums, and the whispers and a somewhat creepy quality to the lyrics that works out wonderfully for them.

2. Fever 8/10- Even though the grade is an eight, the song is still catchy as the wordy just stick to your mind. No real complaints though. It just doesn't hit me as exciting as the first song, but it is still good.

3. The Last Fight 10/10- Reminds me a lot of "Scream,Aim,Fire" as it is fast, intense and has an amazing guitar solo by Padge.

4. A Place Where You Belong 10/10- I love the scream in the beginning of the song that starts it out, and from there, it just gets better and better.

5. Pleasure and Pain 10/10- Jay does an awesome job with his screaming in the beginning again, and this one has the intensity in the beginning like "The Last Fight" does. The chorus is something that will stick in your head as well. It will bring you only pleasure, I think.

6. Alone 11/10- Padge does the best job on his guitar with the opener of this song with notes flying that show you why they should be put on Guitar Hero more often! Anyway, the song is just a really emotional one as it has the heaviness of an awesome metalcore song with just insane parts for everyone.

7. Breaking Out, Breaking Down 10/10- Just another awesome song from them, and I think Matt's vocals have improved so much from when they first started...

8. Bittersweet Memories 10/10- More catchy choruses and more great vocals from Matt with Padge doing great work on the guitar with Jay's occasional screaming that finishes the formula.

9. Dignity 10/10- I love the speed this one has. It's another song that adds to the intensity of the song with kick ass solos from Padge once more.

10. Begging For Mercy 12/10- Without a doubt the most heavy song on the album and probably the most b.a. one. I love Jay's screaming in it. He does an awesome job that would not dissatisfy anyone.

11. Pretty on the Outside 11/10- My second favorite song on the album and a great closure. It continues the ferocity of "Begging For Mercy" with an amazing chorus that is really really catchy.

Hope this helps a few people. If not, sorry for wasting your time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Effort, May 11, 2010
This review is from: Fever (Audio CD)
This is a solid effort by the BFMV boys. A lot of people complain that it's not like The Poison or Scream Aim Fire. Well, to those people I say - A band cannot constantly produce the same album over and over again. Music changes and progresses in one way or another. With that said, I like this album, however, I think it is the weakest of the three full lengths that they've released. Can you tell that they used a Good Charlotte producer- yes. Unless it's just a coincidence that they're choruses sound overly 'chorused'. By that I mean that they use studio effects that make the choruses sound so clean it's almost bad. Pleasure and Pain, Begging For Mercy, Dignity, Your Betrayal, and the title track Fever definitely carry the rest of the album. All in all- a good album. If you're a BFMV fan you have no choice but to pick it up.

Though some people seem to be disappointed by this album, Fever ended up being a very good album. I really enjoyed Your Betrayal and Pretty on the Outside. The album is worth purchasing, so don't listen to those that seem to hate this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bullet does it again, April 27, 2010
This review is from: Fever (Audio CD)
I was a little apprehensive about this CD after the experiences I have had with The Poison, Scream Aim Fire and Hand of Blood, for I enjoy listening to Bullet For My Valentine when I am writing short stories and working on my novels. I thought it was going to be hard for the band to move me the same as they have so far in their careers, but I have to say they have never let me down. I can feel the power that the band puts into their art and I am sure I will be able to use their enthusiasm to help me focus on my own art. Their spectrum of music is broad in so many levels and soothing to my soul. Matt's vocals hold my attention all the way through their songs while Padge's and Matt's guitars reach right down into my mind and vibrate the blood to flow freely as it opens up doors to my imagination. Michael's drums and Jay's bass drive right into my heart and makes me flutter with excitement. Well done Bullet!

Because..

This CD and the lostprophets recent release are very disappointing and that's usually a sign that the partying is good. Maybe they're worn out from touring but still the partying would be good. The music is suffering.

Well really the music here is somewhat good but the lyrics would make Atreyu or Children of Bodom blush.

I really don't care how anybody's girlfriend smells but if you have to put that in there at least put it in the harsh vocal parts where most people won't understand all of it so it doesn't ruin the whole dammed song...possibly the whole CD. Come on...if the lyrics mature this group will be very, very good.

I've really tried to like this CD. I've listened to it at least 12 times. I've kicked back and listened to it all by itself with no distractions. I've listened to it working out. I've listened to it in the car doing 80 miles and hour. I mean I've tried man, I've tried. The only time through it that I liked it I was a little drunk but then I played it 2 more times to be sure only to end up wondering what the he11 I was thinking?

I'm thinking I might listen to it next time I get drunk...I guess that's worth a 2.

(weed makes the lyrics even worse because you just sit there and dwell on them so no need to bother going there)
