First in the city Brides series, a good read, not her best, November 14, 2005
At her best Jessica Hart can fizz with rich good humour and real tense romance. This is not the best of her work, but it is still a good romantic read for a rainy afternoon.
Phoebe is distraught, her ex fiance is getting married in her home town and she is going to have to turn up there, not only the jilted ex-fiance, but also without a really fabulous boyfriend on her arm. So she invents one, with the help of flatmates - and the especial help of the new flatmate, the very handsome but idle, Gib.
Gib isn't all he might seem to be. He is there on a bet - his climbing buddy, Josh, has bet him he can't be best friends with a woman. So now Gib is living in the house with Phoebe, Bella and Kate. Gib agrees to pretend to be Phoebe's fiance for the wedding - he looks the part in a suit anyway, and he seems to be able to be vague enough to sound like a really successful banker and impress Phoebe's relatives and ex fiance.
things get complicated when they have to stay together at the Wedding, and then there is the fact that both of them are falling in love despite themselves.
This is the first of the three city Brides books, like I said, it is not the best of her works, try to pick up a copy of a Sweeter Prejudice which is great good fun. Still, a good read.

Fiance Wanted Fast! by Jessica Hart (Harlequin Large Print), September 26, 2005
Description from the book back cover:
Husband in a hurry ... Phoebe is stuck: she has to go to her ex-fiance's wedding, put on a brave face and pretend her life is just perfect. So her best friends devise a plan to help her out: she can hire their gorgeous new flat-mate Gib to pose as her doting new fiance! It sounds like a perfect plan - except Gib's not all he seems ... He's actually in disguise, to prove that he can be friends with a woman without getting involved! Easy, Gib thought -- but that was before he met Phoebe ...
CITY BRIDES - they're on the career ladder, but just one step away from the altar!
