This review is from: Fiber Optic Communications (Paperback)
This book seems to explain fiber in some good detail. it shows the theory behind the concept and information about the physical layer of fiber. On the down side: The examples are terrible. This book constantly shows examples with wrong math, and incorrect information. The formulas they show switch back and forth using different forms the formula without real info as to why. Then the answers shown in the back of the book for end of chapter questions frequently use the wrong formula and variables. It looks like they copied and pasted most of the formulas from the chapter and didn't do the math right. Its unfortunate that its seems like this book is abandon ware with no errata or web site. Oh well, its an overall good book to explain fiber, just don't trust their math.

Not having an extensive background in engineering, I found this book to be very useful in understanding the "black magic" of fiber optic cable and devices. This book is a must for anyone to designs communication systems.
