Good book, not for novices.,
By Lords of Acid (San Jose, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
Traders reading this book should have a basic understanding of technical analysis and charting.
I am familiar with Carolyn's work and this book really does explain 95% of the trading methodology she uses in her trading room. You do not need the software (Dynamic Trader) mentioned in the book to use her setups. It makes it more convenient (especially the time cycle setups) but any halfway decent trading platform makes it pretty easy to apply the techniques. As with any trading technique, risk management and mental mastery are as important as the actual entry/exit strategies.

FINALLY A NEW TAKE ON FIBONACCI TRADING,
By Dilla "MadTr8r" (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
To start off I would like nothing more than to take this golden nugget of a book and lock it up never to be seen by anyone except for me, but alas I feel it a duty to give an honest review on what I believe to be a great NEW take on fibonacci trading. I use the term NEW loosely, it's new to most traders because I've never found anyone who teaches what Carolyn covers in depth here, and I feel it offers more value than all the other fib systems that have been around for years.
I've had the pleasure of meeting the author at a seminar in Los Angeles back in Feb 08, and if I have ever seen anyone working their butt off putting their system to the test on a daily basis it was Carolyn(and no I dont work for her). It was simply amazing to see this method which I had not tried or heard about(I've been trading over 9years) of applying fibonacci levels overlapping each other to confirm setups for potential trades, symmetry setups and time and price confluence and cycles creating a robust set of tools for improving ones trading results. And her results were phenomenal, the prices would react like magnets on the charts she had clusters layed up on, I don't know how else to put it other than impressive! One of the great things about this book is that it's full of charts on almost every page, with a topic like this its nice to see plenty of visual elements to keep you focused on the material being taught, the writing is clear and concise and even though most people will doze off when reading trading books the information is to the point, enough to keep you awake and plugging away at it. Believe me financial books are the number one cure for insomniacs!!!! I have to say in my opinion this book is not for a total newbie to trading, it would help if you've at least read one or two other books on trading(not investing) or chart reading, because this books is clearly focused on applying Fibonacci techniques to your trading, its not an intro book on how to trade. One thing to note, she is using a specialty program to draw her charts, thats not available on any trading platforms(I use TradeStation,Omnitrader) or charting websites. So if you want to draw it the way she has you many consider purchasing the program, it may be a good investment in your trading career, or you could always sign up to her Trading Room where she does all the work for you. I truly believe using whats taught here is a great set of tools to add to any strategy or system to improve your probability of having winning trades, and I am glad she chose to share her knowledge and expertise to help more traders find success.!

I'm a part time trader, read over 50 trading books, and wanted to learn more about Fibonacci and how I can improve my trading using this method. I was underwhelmed by Fibonacci Trading. From the reviews I read I thought I would get a great foundation of Fib analysis. Unfortunately this book did not meet my expectations. Either using fib is pretty easy or there is a lot more information that this book is missing. There were a lot of charts and examples but I felt the author's style was to show me a lot of charts to understand how to use Fib but I wished there were a lot more rules, insights, methodology, etc. For example she didn't go into detail of when you should place the start of your fib lines.

I think some of the other reviewers are a bit harsh when considering this book. It presents a great trading methodology in and of itself. I was already familiar with fibonacci trading and trading convergences already but this book added a great deal to my trading knowledge. I use many of her methods and subscribe to Carolyn's free e-mails and have learned a lot from her. I use the lower level charts from hourly down to the 5 minute and this method works like a charm. Anyone wanting to learn the basics of fibonacci can easily learn it free doing searches on the internet. Add this book and it just gets better. I would like to have the dynamic trader software for the time aspect but still manage to use my charts from FXCM with her methods. This book will greatly add some sound methodology which will add tics or pips to any traders game. Most people do not understand nor want to hear trading is not easy, takes a great deal of pain and hard work to get right. After you learn the methods 90% of trading is self-mastery with 90% of the latter being patience. Having an ability to get up after repeatedly failing and falling flat on your face also helps. If you are looking for a get rich quick scheme, hitting home runs, doing minimal work, and have a low tolerance for frustration then good luck Pal because you are guaranteed to fail at trading...I highly recommend this book without reservation but honestly you owe it to yourself to learn as much about the market as you can because that is what it will take to succeed...that and endurance. Never Give UP!

This book has everything you need to get started in applying the Fibonacci method to futures and commodities trading analysis. I'm still entry-level in trading and feared this would be over my head, but the charts and graphs are helpful and the tone is accessible. I've already read it twice and constantly refer back to it as I work. It takes a commitment (all of trading does), but I have already begun to experience true results where it counts with this guide. It has really refreshed my game.

The Real World of Trading,
By Old Time Trader "Old Time Trader" (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
In the world of trading, Fibonacci is bandied about as something mystical. It is often oversimplified. Boroden clearly shows the practical application of Fibonnaci time and price strategies in clearly illustrated examples from very short term day trading to longer term position trading. I've been trading 20+ years and used similar techniques taught in the book for most of that time but still I learned something new. There is no way every reader who is actively trading isn't going to get some very useful practical trading strategies from this book. Highly recommended.

A Major Disappointment,
This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
This book is a major disappointment. It is filled with graphs though and looks impressive ... but the content is dry and maybe deceitful.
Let me explain : when you want to apply Fibonacci analysis, you need to know two things : where to start, and where to end each grid. In this book, you only take the highs and the lows ... in actual trading it just doesn't work like that and I constantly failed to produce good results using the swings highs and lows. If you want to learn Fibonacci analysis, read Constance Brown's book on the subject instead of Boroden's. Constance Brown's book details how to choose the beginning and the end of ranges.... and the results I personally obtain are incredible : the markets stops and reverse within ticks of the Fib levels. With Boroden's highs and lows, Fibonacci levels are not respected at all by the market and I suspect the examples to have been very carefully chosen. In conclusion : avoid this book

Vague Fib Technique,

This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
The book is pretty good if you want to get introduced to fionacci. I wish she actually gets more in depth. From someone who applies Fib Pulling in my everyday trading i wish she was more specific on how and why she did things. I recommend "Elliot Wave Principle" by Frost and Prechter. The book is a hard read but it is very technical and full of useful info. Be aware thou, the book also tries to the you on their website subscription. Good Luck Everyone on your trades.

Fibonacci trading, everything I needed to know about it,
By Straddle1985 (Belgium) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fibonacci Trading: How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (Hardcover)
I bought this book because I wanted to know more about Fibonacci analysis. I use a lot of TA tools and I like studying price graphs with these indicators. I frequently saw other TA analysts using these weird Fibonacci numbers, but I could not really figure out the logic behind those numbers. That's why I bought this book.
Carolyn clearly explains the way one can use the Fibonacci numbers to analyse and predict price movements. The book is full of large price graphs with clear explanations above/below the price graphs. Apparently, one can use these Fibonacci numbers to calculate price retracements to measure support/resistance. The numbers can also be applied to measure price extensions, to make forecasts. Another use are the Fibonacci time extensions, which I still find a bit hard to believe they have predictive power. The author will also show you some of her trade setups and indicators she uses to (day)trade. She explains how to use the 14-50 bar CCI setup combined with a 34 EMA. This one is pretty easy to use and backtest for the readers of the book. There is also a bit of commercial stuff in for the Dynamic Trader software. As one reader explained in his comments below, this software costs over $1.500 ... I also liked here reference to Ninjatrader at the end of the book. Before I red this book I hadn't even heard of those guys, and now I'm doing all my backtesting with them, simply because the offer there software for free. Great tip! In conclusion: If you want to find out more about Fibonacci numbers, this book is a great place to go.

This review is from: Fibonacci Trading : How to Master the Time and Price Advantage (McGraw-Hill Finance & Investing) (Kindle Edition)
this book shows you a lot of chart example, but the writer is not really tells you how those fib number leave comes out,i think anybody knows how to draw this fib level if you have some basic trading platform, but for fibonacci trading the most important thing is how to find the swing point(high and low point) in the market, and then you draw your fib level, but this book tells you nothing about that, all the chart is after fact.i return it, wasting money, i can simplely go online to find tons of fib trading article are better than that.
