I bought this book when searching for alternative treatments during a point where I was about ready to punch a wall from the pain I was experiencing. I think for fibromyalgia sufferers, it's too easy to just take the Lyrica (that never quite helps enough) and try to go to bed.

I know I can do more to improve my body, and that's where this book came in.

I like what Wendy Owen said about needing to make lifestyle changes. It's something I've mostly ignored in my life, and the book contained solid advice about the importance of diet and exercise. There is a lot of information that fibromyalgia sufferers will find useful (Especially about Substance P, which I had no idea about.)

Lastly, from a technical standpoint, and the reason I can confidently give this book 5-stars, is because for an independently published book, the writing quality is sound. It was easy to read, and I was able to get through in one evening.

I recommend this book and I'm glad to post a review about it.

I have a family member who thinks they have Fibromyalgia. She suffers a lot of pain and is tired most of the time. I bought this book mainly for her.
Although I haven't quite finished reading, I have found several ideas so far that sound like they can really help. I have suggested them to my cousin and she has started trying them. Although it may be a while before we see any improvement, she is already more positive as she feels she can now deal with her pain instead of just waiting for the doctor to tell her what to do.
We have renewed hope from reading this book and would like to thank the author for writing it.

I had previously purchased Wendy Owen's book on arthritis so was interested to read this one about fibromyalgia. Although it's not something I suffer from, my oldest friend does - and has for years. I know that one of my friend's most frustrating issues was in simply trying to get a diagnosis, as many of her health care providers didn't really think fibromyalgia was a "real" disease. I was hoping that by reading this book I could at least offer up some alternative suggestions.Fortunately, this book had several.

I think the two most important things I learned was how debilitating fibromyalgia can be in terms of sleep. I know my friend complains about never getting good sleep because pain wakes her up.I loved the idea of the sleep diary because I do think it will help identify patterns like how sleep is impacted by stress or certain foods or napping, etc. I also think the chapter on a fibromyalgia diet was excellent, along with the alternative supplements that can benefit people who suffer from this disease.

Just like the author's book on arthritis, this one is well-researched and well-written.

ok first of all, this was ok written. I give the author credit for doing a decent job, but I have a few issues. First of all, there is NO cure for fibromyalgia. Period. There are a lot of things you can do to minimize symptoms and have a better life, but the author mentions cure or getter rid of fibromyalgia and that isn't going to happen. Second, she mentions a number of must haves in herbal remedies, however several are used to increase serotonin and taking those altogether can cause problems. While some of those things MAY help, please don't take all those things on your own. Speak to an actual doctor who is knowledgeable on the subject. Too much serotonin can be very bad.

I was wondering if I was experiencing the onset of Fibromyalgia, but I think is just some foot cramps that come and go. This is a very educational book for laymen who want to know more about this disease and how you could relieve the symptoms without a doctor's care if nothing else is working and you especially want to see if a drug free approach would work. When you hear the advertisements on the tube about all the side effects from the currently prescribed drugs it is enough to makes one fearful.

Get this book if you want to know more about Fibromyalgia. It's a great read and very informative.

This book is positive,uplifting and the author does a great job promoting natural therapies. It opened my eyes to a few therapies that I have never heard of before. I enjoyed the chapter about phytotherapy I am a firm believer in herbal treatments.

She goes into details on what symptoms to look for if you suspects any of your love ones is getting or has this illness. She also talks about simple natural solutions to the common symptoms that accompany fibromyalgia. Very educative and practical book.
