5.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this VERSION...there are TWO available!
There are two Fiction Family albums available from amazon.com. This one only has 12 songs. The other album has 15 songs! Three more for the same price! Buyer beware...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing in the pkg.
Well I ordered this item then became busy and did not open the cd for a while. When I did there was nothing, I mean it was empty! Felt like I had let too much time go by to return it. What a rip off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound combination, January 20, 2009

Fiction Family perfectly combines the different sounds of the two artists jon foreman of switchfoot and sean watkins of nickel creek. It's like nothing I've ever heard from jon as a solo artist.I love jon's work as a solo artist and as a member of the band switchfoot. The two of them fit together great.I love that they switch leading vocals for each song. Each song has a different flavor of sound which I love.I give this album five stars.I love it! RIP The Real SeanJon (their original name which I'm sad they changed).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fact: Fiction Family Is Amazing!, February 6, 2009

Being a HUGE Switchfoot fan, a fan of Jon Foreman's solo albums, and a fan of Nickel Creek, I was really excited when I saw this CD and ordered it right away...and I was not let down. Foreman does not disappoint with his per usual fantastic voice and smart, catchy lyrics. And Sean, as well, does a great job in the few songs he sings. He kind of has a Ben Folds vibe going on at times as he sings.

The album starts off strong and does not relent. My favorite song is "War In My Blood." I have listened to this album twice and it is always this song that sticks with me. "When She's Near" is a close second and I agree with another reviewer that is definitely the radio hit of the album.

So, if you love Switchfoot (and especially Jon's solo albums) and you love Nickel Creek, then this a no-brainer. This is a must-buy CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jon Foreman, September 21, 2011

I really enjoy Jon Foreman and that's the reason I purchased this album. I was pleasantly surprised by the members of Nickel Creek and I have recently purchased their album as well. I have to say this isn't my favorite album and a few of the songs leave me wanting more from Jon. Overall, I have enjoyed the album. It's filled with plenty of poetic lyrics about love and breaking up with a girl lol. I recommend this album if you enjoy Jon Foreman's solo material.

highlights are "closer than you think" "war in my blood" "elements combined"

very good song writing, there are some weird moments (track 2, real strange) but overall a very good album. if you like switchfoots softer side, you will like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fun!, November 8, 2009

My wife bought this for me on a whim for Father's Day, and I liked it so much that we bought it for her brother's birthday. Unfortunately, she recommended it on her blog before we gave it to him, so he bought it for himself, and we 'had' to give it to her mom instead.

I really like this CD! I've been listening to it a lot; it puts me in a good mood.

The songs are each unique in attitude -- but ALL are well written, performed and vocalized. (When listening in my car I like to sing the harmonies.)

If you like well executed acoustic music and sincerity in your lyrics and vocals, you'll really be glad you bought the Fiction Family CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better live, April 4, 2009

This review is from: Fiction Family (Dig) (Audio CD)
How can you expect anything less than pure magic when you combine the musically genius minds of Sean Watkins and Jon Foreman? In concert, the songs are epic. On cd, they are your basic step up musically from the average indie album. Still great. Definately worth buying.

4.0 out of 5 stars plain old fashioned GOOD!, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Fiction Family (Dig) (Audio CD)
Before I got Fiction Family I was already a big fan of Nickel Creek, so when a co-worker said she had heard this Disc as a special, commercial free full album play on a radio station I was intrigued. That night I got on the net and surfed right up to Fiction Family the Website! A few days later they were surfin' right up to my mailbox and I've loved em ever since. :) The musicianship with these guys is OUTSTANDING! Their voices blend together in compliment with their obvious friendship. I highly recommend Fiction Family. It's fun and just plain old fashion GOOD MUSIC!

4.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant recording of two of my favorite artists., March 12, 2009

I was very excited when I heard that Jon Foreman and Sean Watkins were working on a project together. Switchfoot and Nickel Creek are two of my favorite bands and I already loved their songwriting.

Upon listening to the album several times, I do not think I am disappointed. The melodies are all unique and the songwriting is up their usual par. That being said, I can see how this album is experimental and something they did for fun. At the end of several of the tracks are short instrumental bits that don't have much to do with the tracks. However, don't let that stop you from enjoying a good album.
