Editorial Reviews

2009 debut for this duo consisting of members of Nickel Creek and Switchfoot. Both artists have achieved immense success with their respective bands. Sean Watkins is the guitar player and founding member of the Grammy Award winning trio Nickel Creek. Jon Forman is the guitarist and lead singer of the Grammy-nominated Rock band Switchfoot, which has sold over five million records worldwide. Both Watkins and Forman, being vocalists and multi-instrumentalists, took turns singing lead and they both played several instruments on each song including guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion, baritone ukulele, piano, organ, mandolin, steel guitar, 12-string guitar and more. Nickel Creek fiddle player Sara Watkins is also featured on several songs. The album was recorded and written in parts over the span of three years with no real deadlines, while still touring with their respective bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing sound combination January 20, 2009
Format:Audio CD
Fiction Family perfectly combines the different sounds of the two artists jon foreman of switchfoot and sean watkins of nickel creek. It's like nothing I've ever heard from jon as a solo artist.I love jon's work as a solo artist and as a member of the band switchfoot. The two of them fit together great.I love that they switch leading vocals for each song. Each song has a different flavor of sound which I love.I give this album five stars.I love it! RIP The Real SeanJon (their original name which I'm sad they changed).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fact: Fiction Family Is Amazing! February 6, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Being a HUGE Switchfoot fan, a fan of Jon Foreman's solo albums, and a fan of Nickel Creek, I was really excited when I saw this CD and ordered it right away...and I was not let down. Foreman does not disappoint with his per usual fantastic voice and smart, catchy lyrics. And Sean, as well, does a great job in the few songs he sings. He kind of has a Ben Folds vibe going on at times as he sings.

The album starts off strong and does not relent. My favorite song is "War In My Blood." I have listened to this album twice and it is always this song that sticks with me. "When She's Near" is a close second and I agree with another reviewer that is definitely the radio hit of the album.

So, if you love Switchfoot (and especially Jon's solo albums) and you love Nickel Creek, then this a no-brainer. This is a must-buy CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jon Foreman September 21, 2011
By Andy
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoy Jon Foreman and that's the reason I purchased this album. I was pleasantly surprised by the members of Nickel Creek and I have recently purchased their album as well. I have to say this isn't my favorite album and a few of the songs leave me wanting more from Jon. Overall, I have enjoyed the album. It's filled with plenty of poetic lyrics about love and breaking up with a girl lol. I recommend this album if you enjoy Jon Foreman's solo material.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better live April 4, 2009
Format:Audio CD
How can you expect anything less than pure magic when you combine the musically genius minds of Sean Watkins and Jon Foreman? In concert, the songs are epic. On cd, they are your basic step up musically from the average indie album. Still great. Definately worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fun! November 8, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
My wife bought this for me on a whim for Father's Day, and I liked it so much that we bought it for her brother's birthday. Unfortunately, she recommended it on her blog before we gave it to him, so he bought it for himself, and we 'had' to give it to her mom instead.
