4.0 out of 5 stars Jumping somebody elses train..., March 4, 2004

This review is from: Fictional- Tribute to the Cure (Audio CD)
Purchasing this compilation made me think of Forest Gumps comment about not knowing what you are going to get. The only band I was familiar with was 'Kie The Vez'. The Cure is probably my favorite band, and I loved this unusual complilation of synth bands doing remakes of Cure songs. Many Cure fans will dislike anything if it's not Robert Smiths voice they are hearing. The Fictional Tribute album is rare and becoming harder and harder to find. Glad I found it when I did. It would be my recommendation that Cure fans burn their 'Wild Mood Swings' album and relax to this great compilation cd instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars This CD highlights how good the Cure are, August 15, 2003

As a fan of The Cure, I decided to get this CD to hear how other groups would pay tribute to this great band. I am very disappointed. Instead of a tribute, I feel that this was more of a promotional scheme by October records to get their weak roster some air play. All of the songs are played by techno bands belonging to October records. It is easy to tell good techno from bad techno, and these groups are all examples of bad techno. They are musically weak and simple. They have taken the technically beautiful songs of Robert Smith and reduced them to their most simple form. I have even more respect for The Cure after hearing this CD and realizing that not everyone can play at Robert Smith and clan's level.

The tribute, has mostly foreign artists. But their versions of the songs are awesome. Faith is AWESOME. CURE ROCKS!
