5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD
I bought this album based on just knowing one piece ("Estralita"), but reviewing the list of other titles I thought the rest of the album would be good too. I wasn't disappointed. If you love swing music and the accoustic sound, you'll love Fiddle Patch. Great virtuoso performances.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Poor Performance Bobby Hicks
What was Bobby Hicks thinking about when he recorded Fiddle Patch? He has ruined some good fiddling by including three vocals which would make any country music lover cringe - they are straight out of the Top Forty charts. As examples of soppy, stupid, schmaltz they excel and should never have included in an album of traditional fiddle. You have ruined this CD for us...

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent example of Mr Hick's preferred style, February 4, 2004

Mr Hick's professional awards are well deserved. I have read that his is more of a Texas swing style (as opposed to bluegrass) and I think this CD is a good example. Although as I recall the 1st track has a hard driving bluegrass rythym. Regardless of personal preferences, anyone should appreciate the talent level of Mr Hicks as well as the musicians he assembled for this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABOUT THE BEST IN BLUEGRASS FIDDLE!!!, October 7, 2010

Debated over this cd for a long time. I finally gave in and bought it after listening to a couple of its' tracks online. It is truly one of the best bluegrass fiddle records I've ever heard. I have been following old time fiddle contests, and bluegrass for several years. This one by Bobby Hicks is great. I heard the fiddle tune "Estrellita" on DirecTv's bluegrass radio station, and that is the reason I got this cd. So impressed, but will definitely have to play it over and over again, so I can pick out all the parts, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and guitar. The man is a master of the fiddle.
