Arthur Smith & his Dixie liners,

This review is from: Fiddlin Arthur Smith & His Dixieliners (Audio CD)
So happy to see someone still remembers our Country Music Heros of our youth, ( I am now age 84 and was a great fan of The Grand Ole Opry and the stars of the l930s and l940s, when we had LIVE RADIO, not the sydicated PLAY LISTS, the DJs on the radio are ORDERED to play today. HANG IN THERE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I buy all the remastered recordings I can afford, ha, Living on Social Security and faced with all the prescription costs of today, limits our purchasing power. THANKS AGAIN!!

This review is from: Fiddlin' Arthur Smith & His Dixieliners (MP3 Download)
This album is fantastic. There's not a weak cut on here. I'm sure there are fiddler's who weren't fans of Fiddlin Arthur, I've read Ed Haley hated his fiddling, but to go from old time to bluegrass, you need Smith as a link-up. Cheatham County is great, Dickson County is great, Turkey in the Straw, etc. He's fast, he had lots of great ideas, and more than most, his fiddling inspired generations of players because of his accessibility through radio. He's got that bluesy feel, not too smooth, just a tad ragged, a few bits of refinement and tons of fun. A definite must purchase item for fans of good fiddle sawing.
