After using the mink oil, my favorite work boots were comfortable again. Comfortable but filthy. And I no longer live on a farm. She who must be obeyed complained.
In the occupied city of LA, nobody seems to have saddle soap. But Amazon DID! Cleaned the boots nicely. Just like the old time stuff.
Also cleaned the leather slings of some antique rifles. And a possibles bag. Herself has dug up some leather purses to do.
If this keeps up, I'll have to trim my beard once a week. Dang!

I bought this product to preserve my leather products. It works very well. It cleans without scratching. It also provides a nice gloss on black leather when its done. Saddle soap is a yellow substance which becomes prominent when brushed across the seams (especially on my black Clark's) but you just keep working it in, and then it just goes away. Saddke soap is my favorite product to clean leather-and it's less oily than leather honey (which I still use from time to time to make the leather continuously supple). Leather honey and this product are a must for anyone who owns leather. They'll make your leather go 10X as long. Pretty worth it for the nominal price.

Uses: belts, jackets, my leather chair, shoes.

Oh, and it lasts forever because you don't have to use a lot. I've had this for 3 months and it hardly looks used.

My boots are at least 15 years old, and I can't remember ever having treated them with anything (though I may have done so once, a long time ago). I wore them while helping my brother put up a new deck on his house over the course of a few days.

In Virginia clay.

In the rain.

When I got home, they were a mess. I checked out Amazon, and though I'd never heard of Fiebing's, the reviews looked good, so I ordered a can. The results were nothing short of fantastic (I have before-and-after photos, but not sure how to post them - ??). After following up the Fiebing cleaning with some Timberland Waxed Leather Protector, they look incredible. Two thumbs up.

It is pretty good soap for leather cleaning. It will let you feel safe to put it on leather unlike using regular soap or dish washing detergent. It shines the leather a little but it is not really for leather softening or restoration. You really need to use leather oil after cleaning with this product.

I bought this because I heard it works well for leather cleaning. Well it does. I spilled a spoonful of Italian dressing on the toe of a nice tan leather shoe. It left a nasty oil spot larger than a quarter. Thought the shoes might be ruined. These were not cheap shoes. The leather was very delicate. Anyway, the oil stain sat for a week while I waited for the saddle soap to arrive. In the meantime tried to clean them using other methods. Nothing worked. Finally the saddle soap arrived. I had no idea if it'd work. Sure enough, a little scrubbing and some polish. The stain was completely erased. The container is big. Unless I buy a saddle, I'll probably have a lifetime supply. Good stuff.

Many of my 25 pairs of shoes are more than 15 years old and the reason they stay ship-shape is 1) Shoe trees; and, 2)an excellent cleaning soap like the legendary Fiebings. I've used treatments by Hermes and Connolly Hide Food, but there is no saddle soap I've seen as excellent at this one. I actually thought Fiebings had gone out of business, it'd been so long since I'd seen their products. What a grand surprise to find them again on Amazon and at a bargain price to boot.

I found Kiwi Saddle Soap to be too harsh on shoes - wears off some of color dye from leather. Fiebings Saddle Soap is so much better.

True test conducted over a two year period:

Experienced the following when applying both products on Tan color, Nubuck Leather Walking Shoes, Addiction by Brooks:

In instance when I applied Kiwi brand, it was so harsh as to strip off some dye from leather - leather appears aged and further deteriorated after cleaning with this product..

In instance when I applied Fiebings Saddle Soap (available thru Amazon Prime), I was amazed at the difference. The color dye was not adversely affected, leather appears "nourished" or restored and no foaming spray intended to nap-up Nubuck leather was required after cleaning - love the Fiebings Saddle Soap and results!!

Disclaimer:

You won't find the thin tins for Fiebings Saddle Soap on Amazon, i.e. Kiwi Saddle Soap. A twelve once tin is the smallest size sold and fulfilled by Amazon.
