Judy Cannato presents in Field of Compassion the mind-boggling discoveries of astrophysics that led to a new understanding of the "universe story" in a manner that allows a first-time reader in the area to understand them without formal scientific training in the subject. That, in and of itself, is an achievement. But the real beauty of the book lies in her ability to poetically express the implications of these new discoveries on the "spiritual quest" of today's person. Its relatively short 193 pages belie that depth of the ideas she presents. With each chapter she furnishes what she terms "a contemplative pause," consisting of a series of questions directed at helping the reader to personalize the ideas she has presented. This is not a book to be read in a day or two. But for all those serious about spiritual development, especially those who feel that traditional religion has some very big holes in its story, it provides a path for what just might be the new spiritual paradigm of their lives. A "must read" in the subject area.

"This book is for mature readers only." These are the opening words of this remarkable book. And it is true. It is for those who know in their bones that our historical moment is one of both great danger and great opportunity, who realize that the future of life itself, the quality of human life in particular is being decided by us, right now.

Judy Cannato invites us to enter deeply and purposefully into our full identity and purpose. We discover ourselves as loved and gifted humans with yet-untapped powers for co-evolving our Planet. Integrating brilliant insights and stories from today's science and spiritual teachers, discoveries unknown by previous generations, Judy provides us with an effective process to make the journey from small mind to great heart and to compassionate wisdom. We are energized to discover ourselves as imbedded in the Cosmos, in the natural world, as consciously creative participants in this magnificent adventure we call Life.

Cosmology is intimidating to Christians in general and so this text provides a sensible approach on how to reconcile traditional though often false dogma with the new horizons beckoning. A welcome text to any serious modern student of religion.

The writer attempts to compare Christianity with Cosmology. Her ideas and philosophies are not cutting edge but for new readers of these old thoughts she somewhat made her point. However, the reader must struggle through the first one hundred pages asin peanut butter up to the neck. Then it starts to flow. I do believe the writer could have given a lot more everyday examples and brought the language of physics down a notch.

For me, there were a couple of ah has which I appreciated very much. I loved learning about the Centerpoint organization and the work they are doing with meditation.

All in all I would have to recommend looking at many other great books on cosmology first, the universe story. I believe the reader must first understand the universe story before comparing it to religious stories.

Judy Cannato is a living prophet whose words and life are able to startle readers into a deeper awareness of the all encompassing presence of our Loving, ever creating God. FIELD OF COMPASSION is a proclamation of the Reign of God in the cosmological language of the present and future.

This is the book for which I have been waiting. The cries of Earth are so strong and I have been in a quandary as to what I can do to be in better relationship with her. Now Judy is pointing the way. Buy it!

This is a tremendously important book to read concerning transformation. It is not a fast read book, but a book to ponder and digest slowly.
