3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK if you are not looking for specifics...
This is a good DVD that will provide an overview on how to field dress big game. I bought primarily hoping that I could learn how to properly remove the bladder and associated "parts" but this video never even touched on that subject.

This review is from: Field Dressing Big Game [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a high quality instructional video with remarkable production values. Unlike many of the "professional" videos of the past, picture quality is exceptionally clear and the sound does not require mental gymnastics to decipher.

The tape does not include distracting extraneous matter - though a few common sense safety tips and legal requirements are presented. It provides quick, clear and concise instruction on the proper method for field dressing large game (in this case, a cow elk). The tape proceeds from downed elk to field dressed elk in a real-time fashion and is rather quick (27 minutes total length - including the intro & advertising) yet is easy to follow and uses a logical progression and good camera angles with running commentary. While the instruction can easily be translated to other species similar to elk (deer, antelope, moose and even bighorn sheep) I personally would have preferred some additional footage for, say, bear and possibly a big cat or wild hog to "flesh out" (pardon the pun) this [...] video.

Still and all, a very well made, informative, easy to follow instructional video that will sit well beside your "How to Hunt [insert critter]" tapes and pretty much guarantees that you won't completely mangle or spoil your kill before you get it home or to the butcher. This is one you won't be disappointed in.
