Book Description

June 1, 2003
C. G. Jung emphasized the deep link to the physical world that exists for the collective unconscious and its archetypes. Our dreams and symbols, as well as the patterns of our behavior, are shaped by the fact that we are creatures of a material universe. Michael Conforti's research has been directed to understanding the nature of these links and patterns in the light of the new sciences-quantum theory, chaos theory, self-organization, and the new biology. Conforti's book successfully integrates this material to offer a new, exciting challenge to psychotherapy. It demonstrates that the study of consciousness cannot neglect the insights of the sciences and in doing so promises a unified view of mind and matter.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THE MIND, November 8, 1999
Michael Conforti builds on Carl Jung's insight that those unconscious blueprints in the mind called archetypes greatly influence the choices we make in everyday life. These personal choices may take the form of self-organizing patterned behavior. It's as if the conscious mind has an unconscious mind of its own. The author demonstrates by way of example in different contexts how identifying the underlying archetype may lead to interventions which have the leverage and potential to change behavior. The reader is shown how distinctions such as mind-body, psyche-matter and subject-object are false divisions in a unified world. Michael Conforti's analysis brings to human consciousness an awareness that we live in unbroken wholeness and that we and nature are one. As a trial judge for 18 years, reading Michael Conforti's "Field, Form and Fate" has given me greater insight into the forces that have shaped the law. It's exciting and a "must read" for anyone who wants to know how the mind works.

5.0 out of 5 stars The book I always order for friends, September 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Field, Form and Fate: Patterns in Mind, Nature, and Psyche (Paperback)
So well written, such a logical and captivating explanation of the link between biology and consciousness. PURE and SIMPLE. I love to order this book for new students of Psychology, especially social workers, to give them the big picture. We are all connected! Going to his workshop at the Jungian Center in NYC in Dec. 2011. Check it out!
