Many of the photographs in the book lacked detail. The book was of minimal use in identifying flowers. The Amazon site recommended buying Wildflowers of Denali National Park along with this title. Many of the photographs were the same in both books. Neither served me very well.

Great addition to the camera bag!,

I bought this book 7 years ago when I arrived in AK and it's dog-eared and tattered, but always stays in my camera backpack. I love to photograph the wildflowers up here, and I also blog my photos. It's nice to have this handy reference to help me identify the many plants and flowers I find on my travels throughout the state.
While I do agree that some photos don't have enough detail to make an accurate identification, at least I have a name or type to go on for further research. All in all, the photos are wonderful, and the descriptions are spot on. I highly recommend this book to hikers, photographers, and all lovers of wildflowers.

The photos and descriptions in this handy, portable book will answer most questions about commonly seen Alaskan wildflowers. Designed for the beginner, the flowers are arranged by color, with information on the family, genus and species for more advanced readers. I highly recommend this book to keep in the car and day pack. It's an Alaskan best seller and must-have.
