Great botanical field guide for the NW, August 10, 2010
This review is from: Field Guide to the Sedges of the Pacific Northwest (Paperback)
Sedges (Carex spp.) are one of the most overlooked and common genera, are notoriously difficult to identify to species. This is a fantastic guide for the Pacific Northwest, and has excellent photographs of the species.
Not for the botanically faint of heart- sedges aren't very showy and their identification is very technical and minute. Sedge identification take patience, attention to detail, and some study of terminology- but if you are up to the challenge- this is the book for you. Hand lens required...

Carex here I come!, July 2, 2010
This review is from: Field Guide to the Sedges of the Pacific Northwest (Paperback)
This book is awesome! It makes sedges accessible to those who do not dedicate their lives to sedge ID. Every species has a color photo, ID tips, and a detailed collection map. It really helps to narrow down your choices and make you feel confident in your decision. I don't have to ignore sedges any more. No more Carex sp., Carex here I come.
