5.0 out of 5 stars If you like snakes and live in California..., May 23, 2008

This review is from: A Field Guide to Snakes of California (Gulf's Field Guide) (Paperback)
then this is the book for you! I have grown up in California and when I found out about this book I picked it up right away. There were many snakes I was familiar with and others that I had really no knowledge of. This book does a great job of summarizing each species with regards to natural history and distribution. The color photographs are great and it is nice to pick this book up when I don't have to flip through my Western Reptiles and Amphibians field guide (Stebbins, 2003).

I work as a wildlife biologist and I have found this book to be very helpful in quickly identifying a snake down to the species level here in California.
