Excellent addition to the mycologist's library. Titles specific to the Southern US are hard to come by, and this one is outstanding. The text is grouped by species using only scientific names, although you can look up the most common familiar names, such as Oyster Mushroom, in the index. It was designed to use in the field, so it contains thorough identification keys, as well as a small ruler on the inside back cover. Most of the full-color photographs that accompany each entry show a specimen from the top in situ, and at least one other specimen from the underside, already collected. Although there are over 200 entires, the authors acknowledge that no text can cover every species present in a given location. This book is a welcome friend on the trail, though, with a slim profile and water-resistant flexible cover. A glossary, selected bibliography and index round out the text.

I purchased a "used" copy from an Amazon seller for under 10 bucks, and it was in brand new condition - worth every cent. Highly recommended.
