Disappointed,
By Bobby W. Fleenor (Cumberland, KY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Field Guide to Spirit Photography (Paperback)
Although I found some of the content of the book useful, like how a camera actually works and how different kinds of film is developed, the rest of the book seemed to drag on and on. There is also many typos throughout the book, especially towards the end and I found myself reading some of the same sentences over and over trying to make sense of what the author was trying to say because of the typos. It dosent go into alot of depth on how to actually capture a spirit on film either. This is what disappointed me the most. All and all though I will keep this book on hand in my paranormal investigations as a reference book on camera and film but I could have bought a book from Kodak for that.

Not very useful,
This review is from: Field Guide to Spirit Photography (Paperback)
I was a professional photographer many years ago and have kept it up as a hobby. One of my new hobbies is paranormal research and I have been using both film and digital cameras (and a new digital video camera) in pursuing that avocation.
I just received this book today and in reading it (could be finished in a couple of hours) I find it fairly useless. There is nothing new here that cannot be found doing a google search. Plus the feel/readability of the book (size, typefaces, layout, graphics, photographs, etc...) is horrible. The only thing good I could say is the bindery seems to have a done a decent job. If you are looking (as I am) for a good one volume compendium of how to use your photographic equipment in paranormal research, look past this one.

Informative and very helpful overall,
This review is from: A Field Guide to Spirit Photography (Paperback)
Highly recommended book on spirit photography with excellent, clear pictures and the best way of photographing ghosts and spirits. Dale Kaczmarek is the foremost author and President of the Ghost Research
Society and has analyzed ghost pictures for over 20 years. He has the knowledge how to tell the difference between the real and the fake. He ia an active researcher and investigator so your getting real life knowledge not just someone behind a desk. Also, you get facts on how to properly handle cameras including all types of film. This is one book that you should not miss!

Equipment Advice and Information,
By GixxxerKim (Long Island, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Field Guide to Spirit Photography (Paperback)
I expected a bit more on the best time to take pictures or video, popular "hang outs", ways of bringing out the most phenomena, and even some tips on how to handle yourself when in a situation where these things occur. I found TONS of information-up to date information-on what camera equipment is best and why. I found a LOT on the history of cameras. A bunch on why a camera works whether it is digital or not. Also how best to create a situation where if you get a strange shot, you are less likely to debunk it since conditions were perfect. Thermometers, humidity tests, EMPs, Infared.
Seemed it was more for the serious photographer, and studier of pictures rather than the person who would like to experience paranormal activity and come away with some shots as well.

Mr. Kaczmarek has been lecturing and giving tours for over 20 years and investigating professionally longer than that. He has been featured on national television including the Oprah show. Spirit Photography is one of his areas of expertise. Anyone who attends one of his tours offered by the Ghost Research Society knows his professionalism. His tours are informative and actually last 5 hours, they are not a shopping trip like other Chicago area ghost tours that claim to last 5 hours and end up being much less even with 2 or more bar stops lasting 30 minutes each.

Like others who have reviewed this book, I expected some good tips on ghost photography ~ how to, when is the best time, how to bring out some activity to photograph. There was too much of camera history, film history and so on that can easily be found in a regular how to camera book. This book is good for your library but not "the book" that covers it all.

Mr. Kaczmarek really knows his stuff when it comes to paranormal photography and photography in general and has given me a lot of great information on various cameras and picture taking methods. I highly recommend this book!
