Good reference for experienced staff, but not for beginners,
By A Customer
This review is from: Field Operations Guide for Search and Rescue: Standard Operating Guidelines for Search and Rescue Using the Incident Command System (Paperback)
This wasn't quite what I was expecting when I ordered it. It isn't so much a book as a very detailed outline. There isn't a great deal of supporting text, mostly just lists of things that need to be accomplished and who is responsible for their completion. This is a very good reference for someone who has had experience in search and rescue, but I wouldn't recommend it for a novice looking to understand how the IC system works. Also, I wouldn't quite call this a paperback book; more like a booklet.

This review is from: Field Operations Guide for Search and Rescue: Standard Operating Guidelines for Search and Rescue Using the Incident Command System (Paperback)
This is a great reference for both on-the-fly reference and training. As stated in another review, it is intended as a reference for folks in SAR leadership roles from Field Team Leader on up to IC and will only be of use if you have some ICS training and SAR experience.

This review is from: Field Operations Guide for Search and Rescue: Standard Operating Guidelines for Search and Rescue Using the Incident Command System (Paperback)
This is a good book and should be in an emergency responder's personal library. I agree with other reviewers that it is too advanced for novices. However, it is a great reference nonetheless.
