Biography

It is fitting that ten seconds into Blitzen Trapper’s fifth full-length record, front man Eric Earley utters that most sacred of rock ‘n’ roll tropes: “For to love is to leave or to run like a rollin’ stone,” he sings in the harmonized verse that leads off the album’s epic title track, “Destroyer of the Void.” As is the case with just about every musician or band that has employed the Blues’… Read more in Amazon's Blitzen Trapper Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album Ever!!! ...if you're into that sort of thing..., August 17, 2008
This review is from: Field Rexx (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I love the weirdness; it's blue-grass, with some experimental quirkiness, with a definite indie-rock feel. Asleep for Days was the first song of theirs that I had heard when I bought the album. On first hearing the song, I thought that Modest Mouse or perhaps Franz Ferdinand had come out with a new album.

It's definitely worth getting in my opinion, if you're into that sort of thing...

If your one who likes to buy an album and expect a certain genre to stand out this may not suit you. For me Blitzen Trappers volatility keeps their albums fresh and every time I listen to them I find myself surprised by the different arrangements I hadn't recognized before.
I would say their sound is original pop/newgrass, rock, somewhat country?
If you love the all over the place style of Cake or The Gourds you should dig this.

This is a great album but if your checking them out for the first time I think Furr would be a good entry album.
