After tasting the Field's sausages, I was so excited about trying this roast. Vegetarian for a long time, recently vegan (a few months), I was encouraged that this product was not a soy meat analogue. I was also intrigued by the look of wrapping it up in puff pastry as shown on the website.

We picked up a couple from a Whole Foods in Santa Fe, NM. I couldn't wait to get it wrapped and into the oven.

It was well worth the wait. Not only was the presentation beautiful, but it tasted great! I don't know what "chemical" taste the other reviewer was referring to, but ours turned out perfect. I couldn't quite make out the butternut squash/apple flavors, but it's all good. I've made it twice more after that, all to rave reviews. Even meat eaters loved it, with a couple not knowing they were eating a vegan meal! It doesn't get better than that.'

I served it once with rosemary potatoes and kale cooked with cranberries and orange.

One word of caution, this 'roast' needs to be warmed up only, so take care not to overcook.

I love the products this company makes. The vegan celebration roast has been one of my favorites since I first purchased it about a year ago for a family gathering. My family used to make Tofurky roasts at least several times a year. I'm not a big fan of Tofurky roasts; I find them to have a strange, squishy texture. This vegan celebration roast has been a phenomenal substitute for those made by Tofurky.

To prevent the roast from drying in the oven, I place some orange juice in the bottom of the cooking pan and then occasionally baste with more orange juice during the cooking process. The result is a delicious roast that tastes great with mashed cauliflower or potatoes and peas.

I don't always eat this roast with gravy. A good gravy option is one that is actually made by Tofurky and is called Tofruky Giblet Gravy. I also use Hain Pure Foods Vegetarian Brown Gravy Mix, .7-Ounce Packets (Pack of 24), which is presently formulated with a vegan recipe.

I live in a city that doesn't necessarily place a high priority on healthy eating and/or meat substitutes. These can be hard to find. When my local co-op carries them, however, they are typically around 7 to 8 dollars and they sell out quickly.

I have eaten this several times. The key to making it really good is to cook it like you would any other meat.

I coat mine lightly all over in olive oil and then rub with sage and oregano, and a little garlic powder. A few sprinkles of water and it is ready for the oven.

I recommend thawing before cooking, or it will still be cold inside after cooking for the time specified on the package. Tastes great with gravy and apple sauce!

Before reheating for left overs, just sprinkle with water again. This is a must for any meat substitute because they don't hold moisture well.

My boyfriend, the meat water, loves it, and even his grandmother enjoyed it. Easily my favorite meatless roast that I'd buy over Tofurkey any day. The roast is soy free too.

This is a great substitute for a beef roast. I slice it and fry it in a little Earth Balance margarine, and serve with "beef" gravy, mashed potatoes, etc.
It's also great in sandwiches with a little Vegenaise (vegan mayo). The roast has a nice, rich flavor, sort of a nut-meat hybrid taste. Our family likes these so much, we buy them by the case!

I was really excited about trying the Field Roast this holiday season. I purchased a roast to test it out before the holidays as I didn't want to serve it to everyone if it wasn't good.

It's not "bad" necessarily, but it doesn't taste like you would expect from reading the list of ingredients. I don't taste butternut squash or apples or any seasonings that would make me thing of this as a substitute for a turkey. It really just tastes like faux pork sausage. So for the purposes I was hoping to use it for (main dish turkey replacement) it didn't work at all.

I'm sure if you were to dice it up and add it to stuffing, pan fry it and serve it on a biscuit, or make a sandwhich from it, you might enjoy it, but I probably won't buy it again. If I had wanted to taste sausage, I would have bought faux sausage.

I was intrigued by the ingredients, that listed things such as butternut squash, apples, carrots and mushrooms. However, unfortunately, I did not taste any of those things in this product. I heated it up stovetop, after putting some olive oil in the pan. It heated quickly. It was edible, but not especially enjoyable. There was no aftertaste, and the texture was fine, but it tasted just like other "fake meat" products. I ended up dipping the slices in either steak sauce or mayo, which made it more enjoyable to eat. Disappointed overall. When will I learn that "fake meat products" from the grocery store rarely taste good? Sigh. Will not be purchasing again.

I have eaten Tofurky for years on holidays. I enjoyed this product as much or better. I purchased it on the recommendation of the store clerk. I had a poor experience w a Trader Joes version of the Tofuky in the past; so was reluctant. I am very very pleased. Now I will likely not go back to Tofuky: yes, it is that good.

I buy this all the time along with the Lentil Sage Loaf. Slice it and pan fry it in canola oil with the lid on. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Delicious.
