For the price, this knife is fairly decent. The knife blade was sharp, but I also went ahead and sharpened it a little more. The knife is weighted well, and feels light on your hip. The compass inside had air bubbles in it, and it stalls, but I believe it will work well enough if you are in a bind. The matches inside are encased in a cheap, plastic capsule, but the butt of the knife where the cap screws off has a rubber gasket on it so I wouldn't worry too much about keeping them dry. I'm not certain if the matches are waterproof or not, but if you're worried about keeping them safe, just dip them in candle wax, or replace them with matches that you are certain are waterproof. The hook and string...well, it's a hook and string. The sheath seems to hold up well, but the button is difficult to snap in place.

Overall, this is a neat little knife and I will keep it on me in the woods. For the price, I would certainly recommend it to a friend.

I was given an Amazon.com gift certificate for my Birthday this past November and after searching long and hard, I decided on this knife. At first, I used it for light duty use and did ok. Yesterday, I needed to use it for batoning one limb. The blade broke in half at the handle after hitting it 2 times. This knife is not worth the shipping it cost to send. Don't waste your money fellas, keep looking.

This is a great knife for any one! When it comes in the mail it is pretty sharp. But I sharpened mine because I need realy sharp knives... This knife has a great feel to it! The top of the handle screws of and in side is 3 matches, a sewing kit thing, fishing line and a hook. The inside of the screw is a compass.
Like I said this is a great knife. And it will really come in handy if you get lost deep in the woods.

Needed a bit more sharpening,i use the space in the handle for my fire kit plus some medication. After all if your in a survival situation, a good cutting tool and the ability to start a fire is a great start. Here's a tip you only process wood with a full tang knife. It's great for kids to learn basic bushcraft with. amazons sale price is a big plus

I really liked this knife and have to admit the survival kit is small but very functional. Handle is not oversized/weighted so the balance of the knife is perfect. Take the kit out of the plastic case and slide it into the handle next to a magnesium fire rod to conserve matches :)

At first this kniife was great, but after a weekend of heavy use the blade portion started to become wobbly and needed to be tightened up. The knife does need to be sharped often as it becomes dull.
The only pro i found to this knife is that the serrated blade works well like a saw and the survival tools located in the base of the handle.

This knife, in terms of durability, weight, and sharpness is really good. I've done everything from cutting ropes, wood, to striking fire with it and its still up and running. But the handle (and so the knife) is really small. Even for a medium sized hand like mine. But if you're okay with that, then its a gud deal!

This knife fell out of my boyfriend's pocket into a lake and he was devastated so I bought him a new one and he's the happiest fisher in Colorado now. He uses it for fishing mostly but takes it with him for most any outdoor activity.
