5.0 out of 5 stars fielding Saves the World
The Militia Group debut of LBC, alt-rock outfit fielding comprises a selection of tracks from two self-released projects "Fielding" and "The Bear and the Bird Ep". This new self-titled album is solidly good end to end. In a market where it can seem that computers contribute as much to pop as people do, fielding proves that music is still an art.

With songs...

2.0 out of 5 stars One good song
If you were hook on these guys like I was by listening to "Lampshade" on Pandora, do yourself a favor and just pay the 99cents or whatever and down load that song on Itunes. The whole album was a bit uninspiring for my taste. If you find it in a bargain bin for $1, go for it.

With songs that alternately capture your thoughts, break your heart, and make you feel like driving down the freeway with your window wide open and your hand surfing wind currents, fielding will remind you why you listen to music in the first place.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Debut Album!, August 16, 2011

With a whole song about jackets with pretty colors and lampshades, it's safe to say these guys are just about as awesome as you can get! Fielding were (and still are) a very unique and creative indie outfit. The whole album is sprinkled with very likable pop tunes and great little guitar minglings, even a fairly prominent piano. The lyrics are quite a chip off the new block, with such things as "You're so good at hopscotch. You can jump 3 spaces. Kingdom, phylum, order. Family, Genus, Species. I forgot to say Class. You forgot its meaning". It's also safe to say these guys are pretty different and had something going! For a comparison, Fielding brings to mind Death Cab For Cutie and similar indie groups. Ignore that review saying they have only 1 good song. Not true at all! He obviously just heard the 30 second samples after hearing Lampshade on Pandora. The whole album is catchy as heck and a breath of fresh air from the usual music stream.

By the way, these guys haven't died or disbanded. They're just unsigned and release their albums themselves. Check out "The Voice Of Us", their newest album, and find them at fieldingmusic dot com or their Myspace. Only 2 of the original members remain (lead singer and the girl), and they're still really good! Certainly a band that may not have high success, but great to the few people lucky enough to have found them.

I'm trying to start a tradition to play their song, "June 5" every June 5th. Help me out why don't ya? :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this CD!, September 19, 2008

Got this CD about a year ago and I have to say I love it! If you like bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Decemberists or Jimmy Eat World, don't pass these guys (and girl) up! With mesmerizing harmonies sung over catchy guitar hooks, this album is a solid tribute to the new school indie-rock scene.
