Bottom line, this is a great rock album that well reflects both the confluence of direction and the power of stripped down simplicity that marked the best of the early 80's. There's really no reason that this group couldn't have gained stronger than regional status, given that there is not a bad track on this disc; the music has drive, substance and style. Maybe they simply lacked that one magically infectious MTV worthy hit to cull the attention they deserved. Too bad, cause this stuff has character and is pretty damn entertaining. Strongly recommended for this year's back to school soundtrack.

Worth buying for one track alone...,

That would be "Walk by Your House". It was a minor indy hit on WHFS in Maryland when "Fields" was first released and then disappeared with the rest of the band. The song is a plaintive ballad that captures adolescent longing perfectly with the combined voices of Janet Wygal and Glenn Morrow. Accompanied by a trippy drum beat and a languid but emotive duet guitar solo, the song gave me goosebumps the first time I heard it and still does almost 30 years later. I'm so glad it's available on a high fidelity CD, I've been listening to my burned-from-the-LP version for too many years now. I don't mean to sell the other tracks short - there's a lot of other good stuff on this CD too. It's a great lost classic from the New Wave era and deserves to continue being heard and enjoyed.
