Book Description

February 27, 2006
A practical and inspirational book based on the principle of sowing and reaping. If we sow fear, what will be our harvest? And conversely, if we sow faith, what will we grow? This book moves the reader beyond fear and guilt about giving and into confidence, security, and excitement. Andy Stanley unpacks our irrational fears about money, helping us to discover that generous giving is actually an invitation for our heavenly Father to get involved in our finances and resupply us with enough seed to sow generously throughout our lifetime.

Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

What will you do with your handful of seed?

God has given each of us the opportunity to partner with him in the greatest work of all: kingdom work. As stewards of his resources, we have a choice. We can sow the seed or we can lock it away out of fear.

Even though we know we should give a portion of our income to God, fear often stands in the way of generosity. And when we let it, this fear has the potential to rob us of an intimate relationship with God. Worse yet, fear can cause us to handle our finances in a way that locks him out completely.

But when we give God what is rightfully his, we acknowledge his power and greatness, opening ourselves up to limitless joy and peace that comes from trusting him.

In Fields of Gold, author Andy Stanley shows us that those who sow generously can expect to reap generously and receive a bountiful return.

When we open our hands and plant our seed, the rewards are guaranteed: Fields of gold--in this life, as well as the life to come. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

"Perhaps you once dreamed of sowing fertile fields of generosity. But reality has taught you to be more cautious. What if I give away too much? What if there’s not enough left for me? What if. . ."

As Christians, we know that we should give but sometimes it’s so hard to take that step of faith and let go when it comes to our finances. Under the growing pressures to make ends meet each month, it’s easy to become irrational in our thinking about God, his faithfulness, and our role as stewards of his resources.

Author Andy Stanley reminds us that if we truly believe that God is who he says he is we have no reason to fear. Doesn’t it make sense to trust the God of the Universe with your finances? Isn’t it time to put aside the worry and start living in confidence?

Fields of Gold will change the way you think about money and giving. When we truly understand God’s power and presence, we can’t help but trust him to meet our needs. And once we realize that it really is better to give than to receive, there’s no limit to what God will do with our gifts! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on generous giving that I've ever read!, November 15, 2007

This is a book that tackles the difficult topic of money and the church. Stanley does a great job of answering the "why"... rather than just the "what". It is one of the few books that approaches generous giving w/o being manipulative, using guilt, or trying to make you feel less spiritual because you struggle in this area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edifying and easy to understand., March 8, 2010

This review is from: Fields of Gold (Paperback)
This book provided not only biblical references to back up claims of the our responsibility of becoming good stewards of God's resources, but it also gave me real examples of how men and women have been transformed through the process of being committed to God's work to give to the needy. I now see the concept of "prosperity" in a very different light. It's not about me, me, me and the accumulation of financial wealth as a demonstration of God's blessings upon my life. It's about allowing God to work through me to bless the nations in need so that God would get the glory.

Thank you Mr. A. Stanley for this work. I am starting to apply the principles in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fields of Gold, August 5, 2009

This book will literally change your life and the way you view your money. It explains the principles of giving, not out of duty, but out of trust. I have always been a giver but after reading this book, my giving has increased tremendously and I have constantly received much more than that. Giving to get will not work but giving in trust does........all the time.
