Great Comp!, June 14, 2002

I buy a lot of compilations, but this one is unique for a couple of reasons: 1. All the tracks are previously unreleased, 2. it's not just KRS bands, but bands from a number of indie labels and 3. (most important) it's almost entirely good. Out of the 45 (!) songs, I'd say a dozen are great, probably 20 - 25 are good and the rest are listenable. Standout tracks are Two Ton Boa, Mecca Normal, Braille Stars, the Butchies, Quasi, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Mooney Suzuki, and the Reputation. No matter what your taste, if you like indie rock you will find stuff you like here. OTOH, you should probably be a fan of women and women-fronted bands as they make up the bulk of this comp. Buy it!
