Awesome pie plate!,
By
This review is from: Fiesta 10-1/4-Inch Deep Dish Pie Baker, Plum (Kitchen)
Okay, so I bought this pie plate because I'm a purple nut, but I'm so glad I did! It's the first one that I grab for whenever I'm making pies, even more so than my Longaberger ones! It's just so pretty and cleanup is a breeze (sounds like a commercial!). Anyway, be sure to add one of these to your collection of Fiestaware, they're just awesome pie plates. The pies just come out beautifully, no burning, etc. Don't know what I'd do without it and I'm so very glad I found it. These make wonderful gifts too!

glazes flawed,

I ordered two of these pie dishes as a gift. I received them from Mega China. They were definitely seconds. The glazes on both were flawed and there were noticeable "bumps" in the glaze covering the interior of the dish. One at the very center of the dish, and one where the sloping side meets the bottom of the dish. These pie dishes were not designated as seconds. This does not mean that they aren't usable, and the shipping was incredibly fast, but they definitely should have included a warning that they were seconds and that enabled the discounted price.

10 inches by 2 inches,

This is a beautiful pie plate, but it is 10 inches by 2 inches. The larger dimensions of 12 inches by 4 inches is the shipping information. Mega China know this and is trying to change the description, but if you want a deep dish pie plate, this isn't it.

Beautiful Color, but NOT a DEEP DISH plate,

LOVE the true Plum color but this pie plate is NO DEEPER than my other regular pie plates. ACTUAL dimentions are...(inside, actual edge of piece of pie) 9" and depth at the center is 1 1/4" deep. Was truly hoping that they were deep dish, but they are not. But I will keep them as I am a "purple nut".I ordered 4 but 2 arrived with edges busted off due to them being put into a HUGE box and no doubt sliding all around the box in shipping. Each plate was EXTENSIVELY wrapped in bubble wrap but the box size was the problem. Am waiting on replacements. UPDATE...Amazon sent replacements for the 2 that were damaged in initial shipment (again in a HUGE box with plates undoubtedly sliding around during shipment) but one of the replacements was busted into pieces. I contacted customer service for a replacement of the 4th damaged plate and was told that they were cancelling my order for the replacement since 3 had already arrived damaged the remaining replacement would probably be damaged too!!! I had nothing to do with packaging or treatment of package during shipment but am being refused my 4th pie plate!!! I am very disappointed with Amazon.

I like the design around the rim. It has scalloped on the edging on the outside that draws away from the fact that my homemade crust edges are not perfect. The fact that the edge is indented also helps to prevent leaking of pie juices. In response to other reviewer's complaints about the depth, the term "deep dish" is relative. If the crust edge only goes to the indentation and you add your filling to that depth, it is a standard depth. If you fill it to the brim above the indentation, then it is deep dish. I like that it is versatile.

Excellent Pie Pan,

I bought 2 of the Fiesta 10 1/4 inch pie pans because I was making Kentucky Derby Pie whichs calls for bigger pie pans. I was delighted with the quality and color of the pie pans and how easy they were to clean up. The pan is slightly heavy but of course it is a ceramic and expected to be so. They were so easy to work with and looked so beautiful. But again the clean up was so so easy. Great buy!

I wondered if this product would be as good as my clear glass pie plates. It is actually better. My pies are well cooked and do not get too hot in spots.

I've used this dish for pot pies and au gratins, and it's wonderful for both. I love that I can put it right in the dishwasher.I especially love that it's made in the USA. It's really hard to find things made here anymore, and it's nice not to have to worry about toxic chemicals leaching out.

I just recently used this pie plate to hold my cherry pie. The contrast between the apple green dish and the warm red of the cherries was attractive and appealing. The dish has high sides which I like so I can put lots of filling in my pies.

I got this pie baker because my regular pie pans were too small for a quiche, and they would run over in the oven. Not fun. This baker was a perfect size, and I love the color.
