First manufactured in 1936 during Art Deco's later, less ornate phase, Fiestaware went out of production in the 1970s but returned in the 1980s and now enjoys unprecedented popularity. Older pieces fetch hundreds or even thousands of dollars at auction. The new line offers the original designs in contemporary colors at affordable prices. To complete a set of yellow Fiestaware or complement your multicolored Fiestaware collection, this curvaceous teapot is essential. Its shape is truly unique--pale rings symmetrically (in true Art Deco style) encircle the pot, handle, and lid. Made of vitrified china with a gleaming, lead-free glaze, the pot holds 4 cups, stands 7 inches high, and is both dishwasher- and microwave-safe. --Fred Brack

I also love the design, and the colors of Fiesta.

We found it very difficult to pick up and control when full of tea, and it was impossible to prevent dribbling.

It looks awesome but it also is a very nice teapot.

I'm a Fiesta collector and I use most everything I have daily. I also have a collection of fine china teapots eg: Wedgwood. What surprises me most is that the Fiesta teapot is getting a poor rating.

Fiesta is ceramic. Other reviews here seem to suggest that they are putting this on the stove. Ceramic pieces are not to be used on a stovetop. Fiesta is oven and microwave safe but certainly not for the stovetop. I imagine it would be too hot in such a situation, I'm impressed that it didn't shatter on a stovetop.

Perhaps the best way to explain how it should be used, and why other reviewers are unhappy with it, is to compare it to a fine china teapot. A fine china teapot does not heat the water in any way. Water is boiled in a metal pot. The tea is put into the teapot and the boiling water is poured over it. Actually if the china is valuable the teapot would be warmed up in advance so that the contrast between cold/ room temp and boiling doesn't crack the glaze or, in fact, shatter the ceramic. The cover is then put on and the tea is allowed to steep for some minutes (depending on how strong you want the tea.) Ceramic teapots typically don't have holes in the lid to keep the tea hot. The basic physics then is the cause of many of the problems other reviewers are having with pouring. There is no way for air to enter the teapot as water flows out. So the tea needs to be poured slowly and evenly. This avoids the spurts of tea that will come out which I believe is what other reviewers are experiencing. Any ceramic teapot should be poured with 2 hands. Certainly nearly impossible to control the flow with one hand. I find the handle to be sufficient. Personally I don't heat water in anything but a metal pot so I can't comment on using a teapot in the microwave.

Have been looking for a simple teapot that can withstand daily use. I found this Cobalt Teapot and ordered it! It looks good with any setting and holds quite a bit-enough for 4-5 cups of tea. Does not give tea an off-taste. Handle gets a tad bit hot lower end, but not enough to cause a burn. This would make a very nice gift for any tea drinker!

I absolutely love tea. There is no better way for me to relax is to fill up my teapot with Licorice Herbal tea and munch on either iced molasses or Lorna Dune cookies. The Fiestaware Teapot is a fun and stylish way to have your tea service, although the handle does take some getting used to to pour without dribbling tea all over your table or plate. The color is a bright and sunny Tangerine which always brightens my mood whenever I look at it.

The best part about Fiestaware is its durability, flexibility (for oven, microwave, or dishwasher), it's ceramic so it's healthy and won't absorb tea flavors, and it's made in the USA! It's fun to mix and match them, although I personally like having an entire set in the same color for serving. Get Fiestaware and don't regret it!

although the teapot is very pleasing to the eye (shape and colors)- it is not functional at all. first of all, it is very heavy. also, the handle is awkwardly shaped which makes it difficult to hold considering the weight of it. and finally, the teapot gets very hot when you try to make tea. so overall, even though it looks nice with the collection, you should get another teapot if you plan on making tea. hope this helps...

I purchased this teapot to add to my collection of teapots. When I decided to use it today, I was extremely disappointed at the teapot in action. As others have stated,
1. the great-looking ring-like handle makes it difficult to hold the teapot with one hand while pouring.
2. When I put my other hand on the pot to steady it, I quickly withdrew my hand because the teapot surface was too hot.
3. I actually needed a 3rd hand to hold the lid in place so it didn't fall on the cup as I poured.
A good tea cozy that ties around the entire pot would fix problems 2 and 3.
In addition,
4. the unusual and cute pouring spout (basically a hole in a flat surface) dripped and dribbled on the tablecloth.
And, finally,
5. when the pot is full of tea it is definitely heavy.

I have many other teapots (Japanese tetsubins, Chinese Yxing, fine china and pottery) and wanted the Fiesta pot mostly for the nostalgia factor. It will stay in a cabinet on display at all times as it really is a pain to use for tea. BTW, I brew tea leaves in the pot with water heated from an electric pot and would never think of putting this teapot on a stovetop.

I'm amazed that HL has produced this teapot for so many years without having to make serious changes to the design. It certainly is nice to look at, comes in many colors and I give it a 5 for appearance but it is less than serviceable for actually serving tea and only rates a 2 with me. Overall, I gave a rating of 3 simply because the Fiesta is a great looking teapot.

This is quite the colorful teapot - I have it in the plum and it's quite gorgeous to display in my purple (yes, I said purple!) kitchen! It looks awesome but it also is a very nice teapot. We've used ours now for over 10 years and it is still going strong. One caveat, however. When you order this, make sure you inspect it thoroughly upon arrival. The handle on these guys is quite strange and they break VERY easily in shipping. Had to get a couple before I received mine in one piece. If possible, I do suggest buying this 36 ounce teapot at your local Macy's or Kohl's, if it is in stock. Amazon does a great job of shipping this one too - just think you might be better off buying this one locally. Other than that, it's amazing and about everyone who comes into my kitchen tries to walk off with it! HIGHLY recommend!
