The rimmed soup bowls combine the best of Fiesta design and functionality (which, with Fiesta, don't always go hand in hand). The rimmed soup bowls are superior to the bowls that come in with the Fiesta place settings, which don't stack and have only a minimal lip. I've almost always reach for the rimmed soup bowls in the cupboard over the standard soup/cereal. The rim nicely frames whatever you're eating/serving (in a rings-of-Saturn kind of way) and gives you a place to set your crackers or garlic bread while looking into the eyes of your loved one.

We bought these bowls to replace some long out-of-production Mikasa stoneware bowls we've broken one by one over the years. These Fiesta bowls were as close to the shape and size of our everyday Mikasa bowls as we could find, so we gave them a try. They're great!
First, the non-porous finish makes them very easy to clean. Even when we bake or microwave cheese onto the bowls, a brief soak and a few swipes with a warm soapy sponge gets all the stuck-on food off. Second, the size, shape, and depth of the bowls are perfect for our everyday needs. We eat a lot of stir fry and single-bowl meals, and these bowls are big enough to hold a full meal. The wide rim allows us to rest chiles, bread, or other nibbly things on it; it also makes a full bowl easy to pick up. And--now this is important--the bowl is not too deep, so we can lick it clean after ice cream without getting ice cream all over our faces! Third, these bowls are really sturdy. We're not what you'd call delicate in the kitchen, and we've banged these bowls around quite a lot (I hate to admit). They stand up to our less-than-careful treatment. For everyday use, their sturdiness is a must. Fourth, they can go in the microwave, in the oven, and in the fridge with no problems. Gotta love being able to uncover some leftovers and pop them straight into the microwave or oven without having to switch to a different cooking vessel. Fifth, they look really good. We have the cobalt bowls, but at such a great price we will be getting some of the other colors to mix and match for a fun festive (fiesta?!?) table for casual stuff. So here's the run-down: * Functional * Durable * Attractive * Affordable Exactly what we wanted!

These soup bowls are a terrific addition to my Fiesta collection. They stack perfectly in the cabinet so they store well, they are the perfect depth for a good size serving of soup ( about 2 cups) and the rim is wide enough to rest your bread or crackers on.
