5.0 out of 5 stars A Happy Mix
Imagine if you will the tour bus for Gypsy Kings and the tour bus for a great New Age group like say Enigma or Mythos run into each other and everyone gets their music sheets mixed up and they end up on stage performing the music on this CD. Surprisingly engrossing and totally entertaining. Some of the most beautiful music you'll ever hear anywhere.

This is probably my least favorite cd by B-Tribe, not that it's by any means bad, but it certainly isn't increadible or anything close to being original or unique.

This is probably my least favorite cd by B-Tribe, not that it's by any means bad, but it certainly isn't increadible or anything close to being original or unique.

"Fiesta Fatal" is an attempt to do with spanish vocals and flamenco music what Enigma did with Gregorian chants on their album "MCMCX a.D." or what Deep Forest did with African pygmy chants on their first album - that is combine this style with ambient textures and dance grooves. In fact, a cross between Gypsy Kings and Enigma is exactly how I'd describe this cd. However, B-Tribe seems to fall short of capturing the same essence that Enigma and Deep Forest did with their cds and the production and musical quality isn't exactly up-to-par professional wise.

B-tribe borrows heavily from the Enigma signatures - the "Sadeness" beat is sampled heavily thoughout this album as well are the shakuhachi flutes that Enigma is known for. Even more so, just like Enigma had their french-speaking seductress, B-Tribe has theirs but in Spanish - and while the combination blends well it can also come off as sounding cheesy and pretensious sometimes. Another thing is this album tends to abruptly stop in places it shouldn't leaving 'gaps' in the album so to speak, and it doesn't seem to be tied together smoothly or evenly.

If you like Enigma, Deep Forest or Gypsy Kings, this cd is worth a listen. But for a better and more polished B-Tribe album I'd recommend getting "Sensual Sensual" instead. You may also want to check out the cd "Euphoria" by Ottmar Liebert which is similar to this but in my opinion much better and a heck of alot more original in content.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good blend of new age, traditional latin, and techno music, July 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Fiesta Fatal! (Audio CD)
I am new to the music of Barcelona Tribe of Soulsters but being a huge fan of new age, world, and techno music, I thought I would acquaint myself with their music when I found "Fiesta Fatal!" in the used cd bins at my favorite record store. I definitely liked what I heard on "Fiesta Fatal!". It is a good introduction for a new listener like myself. I really enjoyed the blend of traditional latin music fused together with ambient beats. In fact there were moments on this cd when I could have sworn I was listening to Enigma like on the title track. Those haunting female vocals is another reason why I thought I was listening to Enigma at different times on the album. I definitely thought I was listening to Enigma on "Nadie Entiende". As good as this album is, I think the biggest weakness is due to that Enigma comparison. Not that I didn't like what I heard on but I think that B-Tribe ought to develop a sound of their own. I love the idea of fusing traditional or classical music with techno beats but there has to be a line drawn somewhere that an artist has to also develop a sound of his or her own and not to rely so much on certain musical influences. B-Tribe is a perfect example of what I am saying. Come up with some better techno beats 'cause the ones that I heard on this album sure isn't original, and if using a female vocalist, well the same can be said about her too. Other than that, I really enjoyed this album, especially "Lo Siento". I really loved the flamenco work on this song. I definitely plan on buying more albums from B-Tribe in the near future for all the flaws that I have listed here.

This album contains a spine tingling array of songs filled with rich rhythms and rustic chants. I love filling the house with the B-tribe's energetic and soul pounding songs. Because I am a dancer, I know how to appreciate good music when I see it. It is trully a feast for the ears!

I just received this CD and love it! Classical Flamenco guitar and exotic vocals are all interwoven with pulsating rhythms; it is truly intoxicating! Just makes you want to get up and dance. I was raving to my daughter ( who lives in a different state) about B-tribe and found out she loves them too! I have to have more B-tribe now!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent Cd to listen to for whatever you are doing, January 26, 2000
This review is from: Fiesta Fatal! (Audio CD)
This CD has always been one of my favorites, I can put it in while I am working, napping, or writing. Very soothing and relaxing, yet upbeat enough to keep you engergized. The rhythms are erotic and sometimes romantic. Again, great CD for anytime, any occassion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary, yet with the mystique of Spanish flamboyance, September 25, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Fiesta Fatal! (Audio CD)
This is in the background when I have friends over for a classy dinner party. The music weaves its way in the background. Lovely mixture of ambient, a touch of world-music, more consistent than the eclectic Deep Forest and rich in enya-like echoing. Check out the bass if you have a sub-woofer.

5.0 out of 5 stars A seductive blend of Spanish tradition and techno' sounds, November 1, 1999
This review is from: Fiesta Fatal! (Audio CD)
B tribe's Fiesta Fatal is an album that seduces you with its well balanced mix. It is an album of contradictions: it is an excellent CD for a gentle yet involved listening audience, creating an enlivened yet relaxed atmosphere. It's my first B Tribe album and I am seriously impressed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Still sounds fresh, July 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fiesta Fatal! (Audio CD)
I bought my first copy of this album when it came out and the B-Tribe was still new and exciting. Recently, that copy was lost by shippers during a cross-country move, and I got the pleasure of buying a new copy on my moving insurance. It's still as good as the first time--flowing ambient beats with flamenco guitar drifting through the soundscape. Love it.
