bad handle,

I love Fiestaware (that accounts for the two stars) but can't stand these mugs. The tiny loop handle requires you to thread one finger through and rest the rest of your fingers or hand on the cup -- hello, if I wanted to hold a hot cup in my hand, I wouldn't get a mug with a handle on it.Take a look at the handle on the big cup, Fiestafolk, and take a hint. Now THAT'S a handle.

It burns, it burns!,

I really love my fiestaware, but these mugs are enough to suck the joy from the whole set. I wish they offered an option of practical (non-jumbo) mugs, so that fiesta purists could have these and people who want practical drinkware could have something comfortable. The problem, as others have noted, is the handle. However for me it's not really the awkwardness of having to support the mug with just one finger. Rather, it's the way you have to brace it with your other fingers against the burning hot mug. The thing conducts heat like mad, and even the thickened bit under the handle is too hot for me to keep contact with for more than a quick sip. A mug should not be painful to use! I wind up holding it with two hands on the top and bottom edges, or waiting until it cools and drinking my beverage cold. That's if I use the mugs at all--we gave up on them and keep a separate set of mugs for our use and mostly just bring these out when we care if things look nice and match. These things have been around forever, and it's obvious that a significant percentage of people just hate them. I just can't understand why over the years they haven't come out with an alternative.

These are the most bizarre coffee mugs I've ever owned. Yeah, they look really neat, but the "handle" is just a little circle that's hard to grip.If you like holding your coffee mug with just your index finger and spilling the contents all over the place, this is the mug for YOU! The capacity is very small, too. All of my other mugs hold a good deal more than these. I wouldn't buy these particular mugs now that I've had them (they were a gift!) nor would I give them as a gift to anyone else. Does Fiestaware make another kind of mug? Maybe they're better-designed than these ones.

Coordinates Nicely,

I have these mugs. I bought them on sale, so I can't comment on the price. For really hot drinks, like coffee or tea, they might be uncomfortable to use if you have larger hands. I have small hands and have had no problems with the side of the mug burning me.I also like how these coordinate with other colors. I have periwinkle dinnerware (dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls, coffee cups, saucers), rose dessert ware (pie baker, jumbo mugs, jumbo saucers, JUST added these mugs, fruit bowls), and yellow salt & pepper shakers (they were on sale). I like how these all mix and match for a very colorful dinner setting.

Good mug; the handle is OK,

I was buying Fiestaware but delayed buying these mugs because of reviewers' comments about the circular handle. Now that I've tried the mugs, I like the handle and have stored away my conventional big-handled, 12-oz mugs. If the mug had a user guide it would say: The handle comfortably accomodates the index finger. To steady the full mug, put your thumb on top of the handle and your middle finger under the handle, where there is a little flange-type piece that forms just the right angle for supporting the cup. For a more contemplative pose, try grasping the handle on either side with thumb and bent index finger, and steadying the other side of the cup side with the opposite thumb and index finger. But seriously, I was pleasantly surprised by the functionality of these mugs. Though I normally go for jumbo cups, I like this smaller size (a little more than 8 ounces), which keeps coffee/tea from going cold. If you are having trouble deciding on colors, don't worry, they are all great. The important thing is variety. You don't want a monochromatic fiesta.

Several resturants in our area use these mugs because of their strength and certainly their varied colors that make any table setting look good. I personally love the handle design. It fits my hand and I just love the unique design of it.

I'm very pleased with these mugs. I'd like to find one in brown and one in yellow.

You just can't go wrong with Fiestaware. It's sturdy, durable, attractive, cleans up easily (from table to dishwasher to cabinet). And if my rough-on-dishes family can't break it, no one can! I purchased these mugs, because I felt that the tea cups from the 5-piece place setting just weren't large enough.

We actually own these in the mint, and yellow and LOVE them. You hold them like you would a glass with a finger thru the handle to brace or stable while you drink. They are so Zen and look great. Very California.

Love the dinnerware, hate the mugs!,

The design of the mug handles is such that one cannot drink hot liquids without burning the skin of the fingers that are inside the handle. If I could replace just the mugs, I'd be a happy camper.
