Nothing not to love about this pin,

This review is from: Fiesta Products Traditional Rubber Handles Sil-pin Silicone Rolling Pin, Red (Kitchen)
If you're an avid baker you'll really appreciate this tool. The silicone surface releases dough like magic. The ball bearings make rolling a joy.As for the other reviewer's comment that they'd be returning it because it can't be cleaned in a dishwasher . . . this is ridiculous. Kitchen tools made with a chemically reactive metal, such as aluminum, should NEVER be put into the caustic environment of an automatic dishwasher. It's common sense. Would you put Calphalon cookware (anodized aluminum) in the dishwasher? How about an aluminum ice cream scoop or garlic press? Hopefully not. If you do, then you're probably replacing perfectly good kitchen tools every couple of years for no good reason. And for that matter, if you prefer traditional wood rolling pins (which also are exposed to raw egg), would you put one of those in the dishwasher or refuse to use one just because it's not dishwasher safe? Everyone's got their own opinions. But some reviewers should just keep them to themselves. I love this product, and I'm betting you will, too.

Sil-pin a great rolling pin,

This review is from: Fiesta Products Traditional Rubber Handles Sil-pin Silicone Rolling Pin, Red (Kitchen)
This rolling pin has a smooth action and doesn't stick to my fondant (I use it in my cake decorating business). I only wish it were wider. They make one without handles that is wider, and I might get one someday, but I do like having the handles for now. Great kitchen tool.

Handy basic rolling pin,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fiesta Products Traditional Rubber Handles Sil-pin Silicone Rolling Pin, Red (Kitchen)
This is a nice, solid, basic rolling pin. It has a comfortable action and good solid weight, so it does more of the work for you and spares pressure on your hands (I usually use a narrow French pastry pin, and with stiffer doughs, it can be punishing to your hands.) I used it last night to make French sablé cookies, which are a rich, slightly stiff/crumbly dough. Note: I always roll these types of dough between sheets of waxed paper, to help in transferring. The pin worked very nicely, and cleaned up easily with a damp sponge. Criticism: I wish it were longer. I won't be able to roll a big piecrust with it.Re: cleaning -- bakers have been using wooden implements (cutting boards, butcher blocks, rolling pins, peels, spoons, etc.) for thousands of years without bacterial incident. When you cook something at 300F or higher for a while, any germs that might have been hiding therein are toast. It doesn't need to be dishwasher safe to be cleanable and safe to use. Just my $0.02.
