Book Description

December 21, 2008
Sins of the father... For the past fifteen years, on the anniversary of his arrest for armed robbery, Zeke Carfi has received a threatening letter signed by the wife of his deceased partner in crime. Zeke's daughter Amber, Falcon's Bend Police Department's newest patrol officer, has spent fifteen years holding onto a secret that could further condemn the father she'd worshiped as a child. When Zeke is released on parole, Amber finds herself questioning everything she's ever believed. Is Zeke the good man she once knew? How could the father who'd made her the center of his world for the first seven years of her life be a criminal? Is it possible to turn from a life a crime, or is it true that once a criminal always a criminal? Their reconciliation is cut short when Amber discovers the fifteenth letter...and the key to a fifteen-year mystery that could lead to murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Falcon's Bend, Book Three, January 15, 2009
This review is from: The Fifteenth Letter (Falcon's Bend Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
On November 23, 1989, Serena Salim sat in the car as her husband, Nelson, robbed a bank. Her young son, Roman, sat beside her. In the bank with Nelson was his partner-in-crime, Zeke Carfi. When Zeke realized Nelson was about to shoot the bank manager, Zeke stopped him. Unintentionally, Nelson ended up dead. As Serena and Roman witnessed Zeke being arrested and Nelson being carried out in a body bag, they vowed revenge against Zeke for the death. Zeke began his thirty year prison sentence.

Fifteen years later (2004), Zeke is paroled. His twenty-four-year-old daughter, Amber, is a patrol officer in Falcon's Bend. Amber gets a room ready for her father so he can live with her and she can keep an eye on him. Amber's partner of two years is Warren Jensen. He has been a good friend of Amber's for over five years. Amber and Warren often do things together off duty. The two friends are attracted to each other, but keep their emotional distances. Yet when someone begins following Amber, breaking into her residence more than once, and even tries to kidnap her, Warren takes it as personally as Amber. As things heat up, so does the relationship between the two partners.

***** An excellent story with a lot of mystery, drama, and excitement. It is obvious to me that the authors, Wiesner and Spindler, compliment each other's writing styles. Every single character is well developed and the emotions seem real. Totally fascinating! *****

5.0 out of 5 stars exciting suspense thriller, February 23, 2009
This review is from: The Fifteenth Letter (Falcon's Bend Series, Book 3) (Paperback)
In 1989 Nelson Salim and Zeke Carfi entered a bank to rob it while the former's wife Serena sat in the getaway car with their son Roman. When Nelson started to kill the bank manager, Zeke interceded. Nelson ended up dead while Zeke went to prison. Nelson's wife and child vowed vengeance on Zeke and his kin.

Every year on the anniversary of the botched bank job, Zeke receives a letter from his late partner's bitter widow. Fifteen years later, Zeke's twenty-four years old daughter Amber is a patrol officer assigned to the Falcon's Bend Police Department for the past two years. Now that Zeke is out of prison, Amber is confused how to deal with her father whom she worshipped as her hero when she was a small child. Still she asks him to move in with her; mostly because she hopes to keep him out of trouble. However, when she receives THE FIFTEENTH LETTER, she understands what occurred to destroy her image. Now someone is stalking Amber and her police partner Warren Jensen vows to keep the woman he is attracted to safe.

This is an exciting suspense thriller supported by a mystery (Amber's need to know why her hero turned bank robber) and a hint of romance (between the police partners). The key to this interconnected family drama is all the prime players from the Salim and Carfi families behave plausible with vengeance and death being the links. Fans will relish this fine tale as the truth will not set anyone free because the pivotal moment in the past will always haunt those still living.
