The objectives of the International In Situ and On-Site Bioremediation Symposium are to facilitate technology transfer and to integrate recent developments in fundamental bioremediation research with innovative engineering applications. The 1999 Symposium was the fifth biennial meeting in the series. It focused on work being conducted worldwide in the use of biological processes to remediate soil and groundwater contamination and industrial waste. Approximately 600 platform and poster papers were presented at the Symposium, held April 19-22, 1999, in San Diego, California. Nearly 400 papers passed editorial review and were published in eight subject-emphasis volumes. Each volume contains comprehensive keyword and author indices covering all eight volumes.
