5th,

This release features Lee's best known song: "Do You Know What I Mean?" (Been fourteen days since I don't know when, I just saw her with my best friend. Do you know....).Mr. Michaels ballsy Hammond Organ sound is up front as always and Joel Larsen replaces Frosty on the traps. What more do you need? Do you know what I mean? An excellent album from an infrequently considered artist of the laste 60's.

I Don't Want Her,
By Jason Malfatto (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews

When I was a little kid, my mother used to crank the last track, "I Don't Want Her", like it was goin' outta style. She was wrong. I was crankin' it a decade later and it still sounded *good*! I don't know why it never got airplay (perhaps the unromantic, tongue-in-cheek words didn't sit well with the early 70's).

One of the most under-rated artists!,

This album is a great one as are all Lee Michaels albums! I tend to like Lee Michaels self titled album the best if you are able to get your hands on one. Lee Michaels "fifth" is probably the easiest to get of Michaels albums especially on vinyl. Of all his albums, this is my least favorite, although I still give it 5 stars. "Do you know what I mean" is probably the most well known song on the album.
Lee Michaels was a little bit before my time, I was born in 1973, but I feel a connection to his music. Michaels is one of the most underrated artists of all time. He had few top hits during his time, but he was a powerful artist.

Rock Nostalgia,

Listening to "Do You Know What I Mean?" and "Rock Me Baby" brought back memories of having out of body experiences on the shag carpet, playing 5th at "11". I remember [sort of] seeing Lee Michaels playing solo in Hampton Roads stadium in 1972 - following Black Sabbath and Savoy Brown. After those two bands the crowd was spent, but Lee was superb - and those Leslie speakers were soulful...If you're in to L.M., or rock classics, this MUST be in your CD collection.

I searched for years until I found this CD. I have the original LP back from college days and it's pretty well played out so I didn't just want it, I needed it. This CD is a rock classic with the hit "Do You Know What I Mean" leading the pack. Lee (probably a Wal-Mart Greeter if he's still able to turn Oxygen into Carbon Dioxide) was the master on the organ and he could sing (scream actually) a rock song as good as any and better than some. The beat, tight vocals and Lee on the organ - rock doesn't get any better than this. Find it, buy it, play it and then thank me!

I wore this albume out as a teen in the early 70's! It was just plain one of my top 10 fav's. And it has aged like fine wine! He rocked, and my relatives and friends are just now starting to hear what real soul and talent sound like as they are bombarded with so much "no talent" these days. The only down side is I went online to try and contact Lee Michaels to thank him for giving this jewel to listen to and last me for 35+ years...and upon finding his website discovered he is a bitter, arragant, and lost man who actually tells you to "Contact Yourself" when you click: "Contact Lee". What a jerk. Sad.
