I enjoy this series so much, and 'Fifth Victim' is such a satisfying read. I was hooked right from the first chapter.
My initial read in March this year was to find out what happened to Sean - a slower re-reading a couple of weeks ago meant a much richer experience, especially after reading 'Postcards From Another Country' in 'Fox Five'.

I love seeing different sides to Charlie, and appreciating the ways she chooses to deal with a gamut of situations from merely awkward to downright dangerous, especially with her wry humour.
Wanting to know how the story plays out also made it very hard to put down. It might sound like the plot is secondary to the characters for me - in some ways yes, though if the storyline was less than engaging, I wouldn't be interested enough to keep reading. Why do I like these books? There's a depth and detail to Charlie that I've found is less focused on in some other 'heroes/heroines with wounds' fighting for justice. I like the occasional plot surprises, the unexpected, and the feeling on finishing of 'yes, I enjoyed that....... now, what (on earth) happens next?'.
