I read this book from cover to cover. If you are looking for a gift for a bicycle racer, tourist, engineer, or mechanic, this could be it: In a short and readable history of 50 bicycles, it covers the evolution from the hobby-horses of the early 1800s to the amazing racing machines of today. Plus some bizarre prototypes and big breakthroughs, like the first commercial mountain bike. The illustrations, photographs, and anecdotes are good fun too.
