Caribbean literature is an emerging literature with origins perhaps only as recent as the 20th century. Nevertheless, it boasts major efforts by indisputable talents such as V. S. Naipaul and Jamaica Kincaid, and the number of distinguished Caribbean writers is growing. Dance's work answers a definite need for quality biographical and critical information on these writers.
