5.0 out of 5 stars Good Clarification for Beginners
Although I have been aware of A Course In Miracles for several years, I still consider myself a beginner. I found this book very helpful in its presentation, that being explaining the principles, with questions answered as they come up. I have always been attracted to the Courses' message, but would go in and out of reading it, because it would bring up fear in me...

3.0 out of 5 stars Too confusing
What scares people away from the Course is authors who write books about it. When I began the Course, I listened to tapes and attended seminars conducted by "teachers". I gained nothing because people were just quoting Course passages. I felt they had not experienced a transformation and were blind leading the blind. What the Course teaches is simple, but this belabors...

Although I have been aware of A Course In Miracles for several years, I still consider myself a beginner. I found this book very helpful in its presentation, that being explaining the principles, with questions answered as they come up. I have always been attracted to the Courses' message, but would go in and out of reading it, because it would bring up fear in me. This book explained for me where that fear comes from, and for this reason alone I now want to continue to make A Course In Miracles my way of living in this world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, November 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Fifty Miracle Principles of 'A Course in Miracles' (Paperback)
This is a pretty Good book. A little bit difficult to follow. If you want a simple story that incorporates most of these principles I would suggest An Encounter With A Prophet. I recommend both books but read Encounter first.

5.0 out of 5 stars well-written and thoughtful, April 1, 2007
This review is from: The Fifty Miracle Principles of 'A Course in Miracles' (Paperback)
Wapnick has provided a great service by bringing a concise understanding of the 50 miracle principles in the Course. After all, he's been doing this for many years and knew Helen. While there's no substitute for actually practicing the course in the daily lessons, this little book is extremely helpful in understanding a somewhat lengthy volume. Thank you Dr. Wapnick!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too confusing, July 30, 2008
This review is from: The Fifty Miracle Principles of 'A Course in Miracles' (Paperback)
What scares people away from the Course is authors who write books about it. When I began the Course, I listened to tapes and attended seminars conducted by "teachers". I gained nothing because people were just quoting Course passages. I felt they had not experienced a transformation and were blind leading the blind. What the Course teaches is simple, but this belabors the point, and causes confusion. What the Course teaches is this: you are IN REALITY not a body. You are SPIRIT. Therefore the EGO is a fake, it's not real. (You need to understand what the Course means by REALITY: that which never changes.)

Everything you do in life is a product of your ego. The mind is part of the ego too. The Course tells us how destructive the ego is, that it doesn't want to die, and will do anything it can to preserve itself.

When you understand you are SPIRIT, then everyone is united. After all, there is only one Spirit. The ego sees itself as separate. (Thus, the "Separation".) When Man saw himself as a body he became separate from his Creator. That's when sin came into the world.

So essentially, meditate, quiet your mind, thoughts will cease. You will just BE. That is the Miracle.

5.0 out of 5 stars 50 Principles to a Guilt Free Life, January 8, 2010

This review is from: The Fifty Miracle Principles of 'A Course in Miracles' (Paperback)
This is another brilliant piece of work by Dr. Wapnick. Dr. Wapnick was a catalyst for the ACIM scribe Helen Schucman. i completed "The Course" three years ago and have read the ACIM text (which is my favorite part of "The Course") many times. While i have heard that some people's lives get worse (due to the attack of the ego), i would say my life has improved significantly. To journey to the center of who we are, which is part of God, is to live in lasting peace, love and bliss. For me i have found no other thought system that can come close to rivaling "The Course" except maybe "A Course of Love". ACIM is a divine thought system. i cannot describe in words how i "felt" during the journey thru this little book. i have always thought The 50 Miracle Principles were difficult to comprehend, especially because they are located at the beginning of the Text. Dr. Wapnick did an outstanding job of not only explaining The 50 Principles but he explained "why" they were confusing. In fact after his explanations, they are easy to understand. Dr. Wapnick in a natural and effortless way references The 50 Principles to the ACIM Text, The Workbook for Students and The Song of Prayer. One of my favorite passages in this book refers to Principle 17 as follows:

"Miracles transcend the body. They are sudden shifts into invisibility, away from the bodily level. That is why they heal.

There is a lesson that says, `I am under no laws but God's' (W-pI. 76). That lesson mentions some of the laws that the world holds dear, such as the laws of nutrition, immunization, friendship, economics, and religion, and says that none of these laws means anything at all, and by shifting to the miracle (right-mindedness), one can transcend these laws and not be bound by them. It was the mind that made up the physical laws. That is why it is so important to realize, if you are going to work with A Course in Miracles, that it teaches that God did not create the world. The laws of this world, the laws of gravity, death, sickness, and nutrition--all the laws--are `man-made'; they are all part of the ego mind. The ego made them, and we give those laws power by virtue of our allegiance to the ego. By shifting that allegiance, we could transcend all those laws."

What a relief knowing that God did NOT create this world.
