5.0 out of 5 stars Another great resource for learning about the Saints
This is the new revised version featuring 57 stories aimed at older elementary and middle school readers. Each story highlights a saint or related saints in a short-story format. The stories are organized chronologically and include biographical information and the saints' feast day. Many stories also include wonderful illustrations of the profiled saints. The stories...

2.0 out of 5 stars Agree that content is an issue...
I, too, took this book away from my 9 year old. WAY too graphic in MANY of the stories. Since I only purchased this book last year, I assume I have the newer version (need to check this), but it still contains stories of incest and alludes to sexual content not appropriate for this age group (St. Dymphna, for one). I think this book is labelled incorrectly; should be...

5.0 out of 5 stars Revised version is a great resource, September 19, 2006

This review is from: 57 Stories of Saints (Paperback)
I wanted to let readers know that I just purchased a copy of the newest edition of this book (2006) and the chapter on St. Maria Goretti has been removed. The sister at the bookstore where I bought the book said told me it has been completely revised and edited to be suitable for a younger audience. I have found the book to be a great resource for kids in the 8-12 year range. Just make sure to get the 2006 edition!

5.0 out of 5 stars First Review, November 15, 2009
This review is from: 57 Stories of Saints (Paperback)
I think the book was a good preview of saints' life. I was given the book as a present, however, I do admit the stories of their lives are a little too gruesome for the average middle school students or even high students as they do require guidance from an mature and understanding adult(s). I thoroughly enjoy the book as they are stories of love, faith, and courage.

2.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE of content, June 30, 2006
This review is from: 57 Stories of Saints (Paperback)
Although, I am sure many of the stories are quite wonderful, I was horrified when I was skimming my 7 year old's copy. The story of St. Maria Goretti and what a man did to her is much too graphic to be in a children's book. My child's book is now put away and I will read the appropriate stories aloud rather than allowing complete access to it's contents.
