Editorial Reviews

Review

“This helpful how-to is a perfect beginner's guide into the realm of kinky, naughty sex. Whether you want to get up close and personal with riding crops and studded spanking paddles, or just want some inspiration to keep your rendezvous from going stale, Fifty Shades of Pleasure is just the guide. Its witty, lighthearted tone makes it a great read, while simultaneously easing the bondage-curious into expanding his or her sexual repertoire.” (Huffington Post)

MARISA BENNETT is a romance novel aficionado with an English degree and a definite kinky side! She is the author of the recent bestsellers 50 Shades of Pleasure: A Bedside Companion and Fifty Shades of Ecstasy: Fifty Secret Sex Positions for Mind-Blowing Orgasms, as well as some embarrassing fan-fiction that may or may not be floating around the Internet.  Her hard limits include ice cream with nuts and skydiving. She now lives with her husband in Minnesota.

Customer Reviews

This book is a knock off of 50 Shades of Grey.

I guess it would be an ok book for someone really new at this stuff, but there's nothing in it that we don't already know about.
Fox Lover
I found nothing new and interesting in this book that has not already been written before.

People may think of chains, whips, blood, and pain in terms of BDSM(Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, and Sadism & Masochism), where one person controls another in a dehumanizing fashion. I know I did. That was until Fifty Shades of Gray (written by E.K. James) and this subject companion entered the market. The book by Marisa Bennett is perfect for the BDSM beginner or the curious-minded. For anyone who had already embraced the BDSM lifestyle, this book will more than likely not provide any new information. However, if a person who is already a BDSM pro wishes to take on an inexperienced partner, this book would be a seamless read.
The book takes the reader through various scenarios and methods to enliven sexual encounters and explains how couples should introduce and safely use toys--the naughty kind of toys found in sex shops or online sex stores. For example, Marisa talks about using hot wax in a safe and secure manner, so one, the house does not burn down, and two, the recipient of the hot wax does not receive a third degree burn. She also explains proper maintenance of toys and care for the recipient's mind and body. Perhaps the most meaningful inference here is to never use dominance as a means to exert power that physically and emotionally scars your partner.
I recommend, when reading Marisa's book, you dim the lights, shine a reading light over the couch or bed, pour a glass of wine, and turn on an intermezzo music station. The book, while thorough, is a short bedside companion. This will prove to be a delight, because reading it may create mischievous thoughts. The author provides blank pages with questions at the end.

After reading 50 Shades of Grey my girlfriend became a different person in the bedroom...all for the good, trust me! So on a whim I bought Fifty Shades of Pleasure for us and now that different person has a road map to a brand new world! If she isn't taking something from the book I am and I couldn't be happier!

I thought it would be kinda like a tutorial for someone wanting to do what was done in the 50 Shades trilogy safely, but alas it is not. Most of what is stated is common sense and there isn't anything delving into specifics for each "situation". The things I haven't tried are no more clear than before I bought this book. There are a lot of empty pages inbetween each section, or just containing quotes which makes the book seem longer than it really is... I am just disappointed in the lack of information beyond what I already knew.
