Color Name: Graphite
Pencil is the most natural and expressive tool for getting ideas on Paper. Rest your hand on the screen and draw freely with best-in-class adaptive palm rejection. Blend with your fingers. Flip Pencil over to erase. Thin as a real pencil, with internally balanced components that feel right in your hand. The Graphite model has a seamless black aluminum body with a brushed, anodized finish. Pencil puts creative possibility in your hands.
Pencil was made to work beautifully with the Paper by FiftyThree app for iPad (available for in the Apple App Store). Paper was designed from the ground up for touch and creation on the go. It keeps you in the flow with no fussy buttons, settings or other distractions. Paper works the way you think, like a familiar notebook or journal. Have all of your ideas with you in one place.
Five essential tools optimized for the creative process — Sketch, Outline, Write, Color, and Mix Color. Try all of these tools for while using Pencil in the Paper app.
Our adaptive palm rejection instantly knows whether it’s your hand or Pencil touching the page. Rest your hand on the screen, write from any angle. No calibration or setup. You’ll forget you’re creating on a tablet.
Under normal use, you won’t need to recharge Pencil for about a month. The battery can be slid out and recharged on any standard USB port in under 90 minutes.
Get hands-on with your ideas. Pencil takes care of the lines so you can use your finger to smooth rough edges and blend colors directly on the page. Create beautiful color transitions for charts, skies, and shadows.
Bluetooth connection as it should be: no settings menus, no confusing pairing rituals. Just press Pencil’s tip to the screen. Clear, stable, simple ... easy as falling in love.
Be bold and make mistakes. Pencil’s unique built-in eraser lets you precisely carve away to get at what’s essential. No need to switch tools, just flip Pencil to erase.
Palm Rejection, Erase, and Blend work only with Paper, but Pencil also works well as a non-connected stylus in any other app and on any touchscreen device.
From the sustainably harvested wood body to the elegant technological core, every detail in Pencil combines beautiful engineering and meticulous craft.
The best tools don’t require a lot of fuss — they just work. With Pencil, we’ve radically simplified things like charging and wireless connection so you can spend less time in menus and more time creating.
Pencil requires an iPad with Retina display, or an iPad Mini (iPad generation 3 or 4, iPad Air, both iPad Mini models). Pencil’s expressive features (Palm Rejection, Erase, and Blend) are only available when Pencil is connected with Paper. However, Pencil will work well as a passive (not connected) stylus on any standard touchscreen.
We do not recommend using a screen protector with Pencil. The rough surface of many screen protectors can dramatically increase wear on Pencil’s rubber tips. Screen protectors may also interfere with the iPad’s ability to detect Pencil touches.
Definitely recommended for those who use the Paper 53 App for sketching and note taking.
I'll update, if an when Pencil gets back to me, but I'd warn potential buyers of this product off of it based on my two experiences with it.
Outside Pencil it still works as a basic stylus, but I rarely find a stylus valuable outside of a drawing app like Paper.
This is a hard one... I really would love to keep this one, but I've decided to return it. Here's why.
First, some background. Read more
