Book Description

October 15, 1999
This book is for adults who like to think for themselves. I discuss topics of race, politics, and religion in a way to help address the problem stated by Thomas Sowell when he wrote "...it is a serious mistake, with dangerous consequences, to imagine that time itself improves relations among racial and ethnic groups." Although the topics are very general, I address them in a down-to-earth way that most people will recognize and relate to.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

This book's subtitle "survival gear for sapiens" is a subtle warning to would-be readers that thinking may be required in spots. Material is arranged is three sections. "Trekking thru History" introduces the author's contention that wearing clothes and wearing masks are essential to civilized societies. But to make medical progress and political progress, clothes and masks must be removed from time to time. "Gear" develops some rules that can help us think straight, such as 'sex is built in' and 'wanting something for nothing runs deep.' "Outside the Fences" doesn't let reality constrain the imagination. The Glossary is must reading for anyone wanting some true definitions.

This review is from: Fig Leaves and Masks (Paperback)
Dear Harold, I read your book titled: Fig Leaves and Masks. Most of the engineers, including myelf, are barbarian people. Very seldom do I read non- engineering books. It is rereshing to read a book on Phylosophy fron an agricultural engineer. This book is more practical and well organized. It should be read with a very open mind. You took of your mask and you sowed your inner feelings. I thank you for mentioning, in your book, my invention; The First Practical tomato harvester. As you know, I am that refugee from the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. In my lifetime this invention completely mechanized the tomato harvestind in California.

Good luck with your book!
