I purchased this book on a suggestion from a friend who raved about this
book, but who likes a very different genre quilting style than myself. I was very pleasantly Surprised when I looked through it and started noting one by one all the projects that I was considering for a first project to start making. I love Hand Quilting and Hand Applique alot, and there are so many projects to make that involve Applique that are VERY UNIQUE and BEAUTIFUL. They have all the templates right there in full size, wonderful instructions, a number of suggested projects, and a number of projects that you could make in a day or just a few. Projects that you can take on the go, to the doctors office or while waiting. I also love the VERY UNIQUE SHAPES! I was just all around Amazed, which I rarely am. Honestly a very worth while and recommended Book for any Quilter, Appliquer, or Sewer!

Fig Tree Quilts offers a blend of vintage look and contemporary ease of construction, and will be a popular lend at any quilting collection.

If you are looking for a quilting book full of quilts, this is not the one you should get. If you are looking for quilts plus pillows, sachets, aprons, tablecloths, pin cushions and small decorations to sew, then FRESH VINTAGE SEWING is for you.

The first section, like all good quilt books, gives an overview of basic things such as color and fabric selection, cutting and piecing methods and appliqué tips. Interspersed in this section are extra tips which are set off in tan colored boxes.

Each project provides a photo, a paragraph about the subject and a materials and cutting list. Finished size measurements are also given. The instructions on how to put the project together come with plenty of graphics so you can see as well as read what you are to do. Assembling directions are next and finally the finishing. This last is left up to you with the statement of "quilt as desired".

If templates are needed, as for the appliqués, they are provided at full size. You don't have to run out to the copier's before you start which is a nice touch. If you are looking to start your Christmas presents for 2010 early, this would be a good book to get as the variety of projects is so varied.

I love every thing that this author comes up with! She's a very talented artist!

I got this book from the library and loved it, so I ended up purchasing it through Amazon. It contains some great quilt patterns and other interesting projects of a whimsical nature. I haven't made anything from it yet, but hope to in the future.

A beautiful book! The photographs are lovely. Multiple contributors provide a variety of appealing projects - there's surely something for everyone! I especially enjoyed the section on fabric and color selection.

The book is beautiful, the projects, the photography, the whole book is just inspiring, all of the instructions are easy to understand and I can't wait to start one of the projects. Thank you Fig Tree Quilts..... you've done it again!

WOW! This is a great book! I want to do each and every project - love the quilts particularly. The photos are top notch and the instructions are easy to follow. Joanna has done a tremendous job putting this together. Buy this book - you'll no doubt find several projects you will want to do.

I can't wait to make some of these projects, they are so unique and fun. I love the cottage vibe, but you could do them in any fabric to suit your style. very fast shipping as well. thank you

Joanna continually impresses me with her intuitive sense of color and design. On top of that, making a project do-able is her forte. I look forward to every opportunity to learn from her.
